We went her twice and weren't disappointed either visit. Nicely cooked food and friendly helpful service. Great location for views across the harbour.

Thank Sarah F

For a view across the manicured park to the perfect Queen Charlotte Sound on a fine day it is difficult to beat the site. The food was good and the atmosphere conducive to just about anything, from a read (there's a fridge full of books) to live music in the evening. Seating on pavement outside is great in good weather.

My husband and I dropped for a coffee and a glass of wine - a bit of a disaster.
The wine list was very short. The coffee was too dark and the milk was left sitting on the side unrefrigerated for 1.5 hours we were there. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The olives I ordered cost $6.50 and I should have just bought a jar at the supermarket - not warned through or any added flavour - ordinary. My husband had a piece of very dry cake. There were also a lot of flies settling on everything - not very appealing on any level.

After waiting for 45 minutes for a “homemade” pasta and a vegetable stir-fry our meals arrived without an apology for the delay. The arrogant staff did not seem interested in their job at all, mixing up other people’s orders and refusing to offer any kind of service I’d expect from a restaurant in this price range.

The staff was exactly like the “homemade pasta”: tasteless with a sour aftertaste. If this pasta was homemade then these people must live in a local pasta factory. There was no attempt to make it better (salt, pepper, parmesan cheese). These ingredients could have done miracles to this uninspired creation.

After being asked how the meal was, my response of “average” was totally discarded and the ignorant waitress walked off without being interested in my feedback at all.

Apart from a great view this restaurant has nothing to offer.

We had a lovely meal at "Le Cafe", which featured a creative menu full of local and fresh items. The wine selection was extensive and full of NZ options, with prompt and attentive service.
