“More than meets the eye!”
Reviewed October 31, 2009

From the outside it looked more motel so I wasn't expecting much, but I was wrong! It started off well as the staff are so nice and friendly and helpful. It only got better from there as the room was fantastic. Very modern and clean with a little kitchen, good sized bathroom, spacious open plan lounge/bedroom. The room also came with a DVD player and flatscreen TV. DVD's are free from reception. The shower was amazing - it had about 16 shower heads, apparantly this is the only room in the motel that has this shower.
The next day I walked to my Interislander ferry crossing and it was approx 10 minutes away.
Overall a great experience.

What a lovely place to stay. We booked the apartment as it has an accessible bathroom and we were very impressed. Bedroom was separated from the lounge by a sliding door. The apartment was very roomy with full oven, dishdraw and fridge - would be fantastic for a decent stay and very well priced. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Unit was well appointed, with decent coffee!! Owners very friendly and gave recommendations for dining etc.

Spacious, clean, modern apartment (living room, bedroom, kitchenette, and a large bath with a huge jetted tub). Excellent bath amenities, fitted kitchen with conveniences, and friendly management. Oh, and free internet use in the common area (charge for WiFi connection) as well as a good DVD collection (not that we used it) to play in the rooms that are fitted with CD and DVD players as well as flat panel TV-s. Convenient and inexpensive breakfast option too.

We stayed at Picton after we crossed the ferry to South Island. Just had dinner at a neighborhood restaurant (excellent food at Escape to Picton) and spent the night. The tub was godsend for us - we had been traveling for three and a half weeks and needed the relaxation. For only 145 NZD, this was a good deal.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit with our daughter and her baby. I was concerned about the rooms being at the end, right by the road, but there was no problem with noise. There is a grocery store across the street and this was very convenient. We stayed 2 nights before catching the ferry to the North Island. It was a short drive to visit area vineyards and made it very easy to catch the ferry. There was a computer by the office for the use of guests and we were able to check email and book the ferry crossing. The kitchenette could use a stove/oven as this was a family sized unit. The manager said she wanted to add one and offered the use of an oven in an unoccupied unit.

I can't say I'd recommend spending the night in Picton, but if you must, Jasmine Court made for an excellent place to overnight. The rooms were large, if a bit bland, the staff was wonderfully helpful and it was within easy walking distance of all the different ferries. Suited our needs nicely.

We stayed at the Jasmine Court on our way to the ferry to the North Island. We learned that the motel was under new management (just a week) and if our stay was any indication, the reviews will stay very positive. We were given an upgraded room when we arrived. It was large, with all the amenities one could want - DVD player, kitchenette, spa bath, free use of Internet to check emails, free loan of umbrellas etc. Although we only stayed the one night, we were made to feel very welcome by the new manager. We could easily walk to the centre of Picton. If you are catching an early morning ferry like we were, you can't go wrong with the Jasmine Court.
