Anchor Down is a lovely B and B - Janet and Ian are great hosts. They were fun and informative about the area - the recommendation to take the Queen Charlotte Drive the long way to Blenheim was brilliant. The B and B is a high standard - comfortable bed, good shower, good temperature, great breakfast, clean - just what you need. Local wine on arrival and each evening was very welcome! Booking.com messed up on our request for an additional night pre arrival, but Janet changed arrangements and fitted us in with no problems. There's a lot to do in and around Picton - it is not just a docking point for the ferries - we will take stay longer next time we are there, and will be staying at Anchor Down again.

Enjoyed this B&B a lot! Janet & Ian are the sweetest host we've ever met. The B&B is only a short 10 minutes walking from restaurants, shops & the bay. Parking is available for free (I found this to be the most crucially needed when traveling in NZ). Janet welcome us warmly upon our arrival & even got us a little tour around her house. Our room was already heated when we arrive and wow... we were amazed with the room design with all little details. In the morning, we opened our balcony door and again amazed by the beautiful garden that Janet & Ian had worked on. Too bad, it was drizzling that morning, otherwise we could spent our morning breakfast in the garden. We had fresh cooked breakfast prepared by Ian & love the coffee prepared by Janet. Really recommend this accommodation when visit Picton.

What can I say. An absolutely fantastic nights stay before boarding the ferry the following day, I didn't want to leave ! Ian & Janet are the best hosts you could meet. Ian picked me up from the ferry port, Janet welcomed me into their home as though we were old friends. The room was excellent, clean, comfortable, more mod cons than you need. I had a lovely quiet nights sleep and woke to a wonderful cooked breakfast before being dropped down to the ferry terminal to carry on my journey. The views from Anchor Down are spectacular. Ian and Janet make Anchor Down a home from home. I can't wait to return here again next year. Highly Recommended !

Janet and Ian have modern rooms separate from their own living area which we like in B&Bs. Room 3 was spacious and well appointed. The generous breakfast included a special request for porridge. The advice they gave the three overseas visitors who were at breakfast with us was comprehensive, up to date and practical. They really know and love the South Island well.
