We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon on the mail boat run. The skipper was very entertaining with background knowledge about the locals. The scenery was amazing and to think Captain Cook saw almost the exact same place as we did was amazing. Great value.

We took a Saturday afternoon mail run cruise only. The scenery is nice but not much different than the one you saw when taking the ferry from Wellington to Picton. The skipper was doing a good job to entertain the passengers. However, four and half hours in the boat is rather boring. If you have already taken the ferry, I would skip this mail run. If you do take this tour, a combination of walk and boat will be better.

Took the mail boat run with Beachcomber Tours. The skipper was very entertaining and informative. He made friends with the residents and also all of their dogs and pigs! We also stopped at the Cooks monument. Beautiful sounds, homes, and weather.

I first visited this beautiful part of the world in 1968 as a midshipman on an Australian navy ship and thought that it was just one of the most majestic waterways in the world. Over the years I had told me wife about this place and we decided that we would visit together. We took a day cruise with the Beachcomber cruise line and it was absolutely wonderful. The mountains in the background and the water made this a postcard view. As we motored towards Resolution bay our captain showed us the bottle-nosed dolphins and told us he would attract them to our boat by revving the engines. At first there seemed like only a few came over but within a minute we had 10 dolphins swimming about less than a meter from the transom of the boat and if you had been allowed you could have leaned over and touch them. We headed off into several other bays to deliver the mail and in one of them we found a marine protection zone and the blue code were in huge numbers. This cruise is quite inexpensive and I would recommend that anyone coming to this area take a cruise you will not be sorry.

We caught the Cougar Line Boat from Picton quay and travelled to Motuara Island . It is a pleasant walk to the summit and Captain Cook's lookout . Well worth the effort , the wildlife included robins, saddlebacks , fantails , parrots and a Blue Penguin in a nest box . On our return to the jetty , we spotted what could have been the parent penguin fishing. The boat called , then took us to Endeavour cove , we walked to Furneaux lodge for dinner , then walked the the forest track to the waterfall returning to Endeavour where we spent the night . the following day we walked to Punga Bay where we picked up the water taxi for a return to Picton , after an enthralling two days .
