One of the most beautiful places on Earth. Everyone should go to any one of the lookouts or take a boat trip to experience the magesty of the place. The magnificent vuews are a feast for the eyes.

We sailed through a bad storm one way, and on a lovely sunny day the second time. Why fly over when you can experience sailing the sounds

The Sounds are superb. Try and do the trip to or from Wellington on the interisland ferry as these large vessels have about 45 minutes cruising in the sounds enroute to Picton.
Drive the Queen Charlotte road between Picton and Havelock for superb views...a fishing trip on the sounds is also great

And yes - the view was just like that on the day! So much to see and if you take obe of the Beachcomber trips, the Captain will fill you in on so much of the history of the Sounds, the people, the industry etc.

what an area, lots to do on the water and various options even if you dont have your own boat, also lots of good walking tracks to explore quickly and easily beyond QCS itself. Words cant put it fairly into context of what your eyes will see...
