“Get what you pay for”

Trumpeter was the fish of the day. It turned out to be so solid it was hard to cut! Must have been frozen. This cafe seems to trade on price rather than value and plenty of us travelers fall for that. I must say, however, that the Coney Pinot is very good.

“You better bring a picture on how you want your meat done”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2012

I ordered a steak med./well. Surprise, surprise blood was in the plate upon delivery and the steak was very uneven cooked. From med./well to rear. All in one steak, imagine. Nice location and friendly waitress. But still no way I come back and spend this kind of money on food like that.

“Mediocre to bad food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

Chicken wonton appetizers - great!
Sweet and sour pork - well, it was a mistake to order pork in a restaurant that specializes in seafood in a country that specializes in sheep. My dining companion's comment to the server? "I wouldn't serve this to guests."
Catch of the day: a whole fish nicely done. Fries (big mistake) were from a bag. Should have ordered the baby potatoes instead.
Service was okay. Ambience was noisy, but that seemed to fit the bar/cafe setting.
There are better restaurants nearby. Might be wise to try them instead.

“Really good food”

Nice place to eat, with good food, good service and really nice atmosphere - we particularly enjoyed the piano player/singer. Good prices also.

“Best seafood chowder in town!”

Picton's standard menu item shines here - don't go anywhere else for it.
