“Nice B&B”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

My wife and I spent one night at the Marineland B&B in Picton after catching the ferry from Wellington.

Rosemary the owner was very friendly and welcoming on our arrival.

We were in a deluxe room on the ground floor. The room was small, but comfy enough for the two of us. It had a double bed which, soft and comfy and had a small TV with the three local channels available. Our room also had a shower and toilet in it. I have to agree with the other reviewers though, that if you don’t know each other intimately then these rooms might not be for you as you can see and hear everything when these facilities are used. It wasn't an issue for us.

A continental breakfast was included and was a nice start to the day.

The communal lounge is a nice area to wind down. Sky TV is available here.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would happily stay here again.

We were a family of 5 adults traveling and on a whim decided to stay overnight in Picton so we could take a day trip on the Marlborough Sounds. Rosemary, lady in charge was able to kindly supply us at short notice three rooms downstairs with ensuites. The rooms were a little on the spartan side, but very clean and adequate for an overnight and all had televisions. Breakfast was included in room rate and was continental - definitely a no fuss brekkie. Good comfy communal lounge with large TV. Definitely Ok for the money. Big advantage was the three minute walk to the beautiful wharf and park area where we caught the Cougar line ( great and obliging guy at the helm) which was a bit cheaper than the Beachcomber line and he took us to the Bay of Many Coves ( high end resort) for brunch - it was perfect - then collected us on the return - great value for the custom $75 although we added to the bunch allowance and had a very very good lunch with good SB. If on a budget would thoroughly recommend for both convenience and the money.

Room Tip: The rooms downstairs have ensuites but upstairs have a two room shared ensuite so downstiars is bett...

What a find, and 6 relaxed comfortable, friendly days and nights. Marineland not only offered us with all we needed but we enjoyed a fantastic rate too. Exceptional value for money.

The owners are present at all times and the efficiency and standards are maintained as a result of their attention.

Marineland also has a good sized pool, laundry and a comfortable lounge.

Traditional in style but perfect!

This was the first time that we have stayed at a B&B & unsure whether our experience was due to our expection after normally staying at Hotels & Motels, but we found the room below average-average. The room was small & cozy, as mentioned in previous review the ensuite is connected to the room only by a sliding door. We did not shop around so unsure whether the price (quite cheap $100) we paid was represented in the quality. While the location is certainly close to the main centre, there are certainly many others in the area & everything is so close that location isn't that much of a factor. Service & Quality should be.

It's a nice, affordable bed and breakfast. The rooms are clean (albeit somewhat small) and the place has a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was good. If you're looking for something near downtown Picton, this is your place.

This accommodation was completely unsuitable for a father/daughter stay. Initial inquiry had made clear that it was a father daughter accommodation. Booked based on the owner's assurance that the accommodation was suitable. However, the shared room with 2 twin bed ensuite bath was not actually an ensuite, but a shower that opened directly into the bedroom. This meant one of us had to leave the room whenever the other showered. We would have cancelled and looked elsewhere, but we had booked based on email correspondence. The B & B quality is more like a backpacker. Not surprisingly, we were not pleased with our stay!
