Stumbled across this one on our first night and liked it so much we went back again. An old pub revamped and updated with modern decor with a good choice of tables. We opted for the cosy corner at the back so we could view the world. Friendly, prompt service from the staff though out the night and the second time as well. The Menu is not large but, had the NZ produce you expect such as lamb, venison and steak. I had on the first night Steak with a fusion asian style sauce which was good though my partners Sirloiin was the better choice and the next night I had stuffed pork and my partner had the lamb. All perfectly cooked and in large volumes though not alot on the veggie front. The mains were $20 to $26 which is fair value for this place. Wines - a good local selection though we went for Hawkes Bay Shiraz rather than the Marlbourgh Pinots. $43 was the going rate though most of NZ. Would certainly go again if I ever get back to Picton.
