“Great venue in a beautiful part of the world”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2014

We were keen to have a bowl of mussels, moule et frites style, and NZ beer. Heading in we discovered that it was Italian Night - great value with 2-4-1 deals but we were disappointed not to be able to order from the regular menu. The ingredients were all very fresh but in the pasta dishes the flavours were a little confused and lost. Dessert was spectacular with a chocolate fondant and salted caramel icecream / banana sorbet accompaniment. Loved the 'bin ends' equivalent wine list of styles that were about to run out. Very friendly service. Lovely old building, if only those walls could talk!

“Palat Satisfaction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014

This restaurant is in the heart of Akaroa and serves tremendous meals. We took our hosts from the Chateau Mont Clair B&B and were delighted with our hosts choice of restaurant. A wide variety of selections and a great wine list. We were on a cruise when we stayed in Akaroa.

“Beautiful restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2014 via mobile

Made a reservation this afternoon without trouble. Wait staff were extremely friendly, gluten free menu provided which was helpful. Complementary bread also given (non-GF) for entree and delicious GF bread provided with my meal. Seafood was delicious as was the flaming creme brulee dessert. Beautiful furnished restaurant however was a little cold despite sitting right beside the portable heater. Otherwise a nice restaurant.

“Top restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2014

I went for dinner with my wife during our New Zealand's holydays. The restaurant is very nice and with a warm atmosphere and the waiting staff is very friendly and professional. My wife had a salmon tasting plate which was outstanding with 5 different types of salmon, bread and dips, I had an amazing carpaccio with Jerusalem artichokes and truffle oil. As a main I decided to try the salt baked beef fillet with crushed chestnuts an potatoes, blue cheese fondant and beetroot roumoulade. The dish was so pretty that I was almost tempted not to eat it because I was afraid to ruin it! and the taste was spectacular and perfectly cooked. My wife had fish with brussel sprouts and fresh homemade pasta and carrots puree which make the plate a joy for the taste! We didn't have dessert but I am sure it would have been gorgeous! Definitely a place to go!
