“Enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2009

Stayed 2 nights at the Olive Grove.
Room was very comfortable, with balcony giving lovely views to the Banks Peninsula.
We were lucky with the weather which meant we were able to enjoy the 6pm Olive Tasting on the terrace - all very convivial.
Breakfast was probably the best of our entire trip, in particular the home-made yoghurts.
The Olive Grove is a 5-10 minute drive from Akaroa and its restaurants. We drove ourselves the first night but Chris offered a 'taxi service' on the second. A very nice touch.
Overall, an enjoyable stay in lovely surroundings.

The Olive Grove was one of the many excellent B&Bs we stayed at on our recent travels through New Zealand.

Chris and Annette made us feel as if we were very special guests, with chocolates on the bed when we returned from dinner in Akaroa (Try C'est La Vie restaurant - it's a riot!) and delicious breakfasts. The spa with a view is excellent too.

The view from the private balcony in our room was breathtaking - the nearest neighbours were sheep and cows!

Highly recommended if you are on the Banks Peninsular.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Olive Grove for 4 days. It was situated in the hills above Robinson's Bay, a short drive from the town of Akaroa. Chris and Annete were gracious hosts and the accommodations were modern, clean, and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the sunset from the spa, which is located in a great view area. Full breakfasts were provided with many choices and the early evening wine and olive tastings were wonderful. I highly recommend The Olive Grove for anyone interested in staying in the Banks Peninsula near Christchurch, New Zealand. All guest rooms are located on the second floor and are well sound-proofed for privacy. Shower and tub were elegant. This is a B&B not to be missed!

How do Annette and Chris do it all?! These folks run an incredible B&B--which is also an operating olive grove! My husband and I loved every minute we stayed here. The accommodations are beautiful. We spent hours sitting on the private deck off our room watching the cows in the golden fields and the sun shine on Robinson's Bay. The first evening of our stay, Annette and Chris invited us to join them downstairs to try some olives and olive oils. There, we chatted about our favorite travel destinations (they have been MANY places) and enjoyed some local wine with the olives. The Olive Grove is a short drive into town (about 15 minutes). Chris and Annette were full of great tips re: what to see there. Breakfasts at The Olive Grove were fantastic, as well. Homemade yogurt and specialty coffee drinks, as well as waffles, cereals, eggs and lots of other choices. Lots of little things also contribute to the specialness of this stay (e.g., olive soaps/shampoos in the bathroom and fudge on the bed in the evening).

I was surprised not to see an entry for The Olive Grove, a lovely bed and breakfast only 5 km from Akaroa, in Robinson's Bay. (www.theolivegrove.net.nz). We stayed there in early February of 2007. Everything was as promised on the website, and more. The hosts are charming and wise; breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed the evening glass of wine with an olive oil tasting from their groves. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
