The rooms were not waterfront ...the WC would be as small as an airplane toilet.. the towels are dated and the cost of the room is very high...it is way to expensive for the amt you pay.
The rooms neeed a total makeover . Would not recommend

The most expensive motel of our NZ holiday and it was quite old. It was clean and had cooking facilities within the unit. We found the host to be quite abrupt and he charged my credit card in Australian dollars instead of NZ dollars without asking me first, which then incurred an extra fee for us. There were no screens on the doors or windows and lots of insects came inside in the evening, I wouldn't like to think what it would be like in Summer. It is suitable for a short stay only, but still quite expensive for what it is. Would stay elsewhere next time.

We have just had a wonderfully relaxing couple of days at your lovely quiet Motel. It was very clean and comfortable. Our unit was right at the waters edge as we requested. Upon arrival our very obliging host changed our friends booking so we could all be together and nothing was a problem. And YES we did wake to the bellbirds singing. We would highly recommend it to our fellow cantabs for a handy winter breakaway. Restaurants within walking distance and all very good.

Room Tip: If you wish to be at the waters edge, request it.

The most expensive stay in NZ and the worst of my 4 week vacation.
A better attitude from the owner would improve this situation, but looking back through the reviews looks like he's not changing soon.
The unit was not waterfront so there were no views to compensate the noisy and out-dated rooms.
By far the worst experience about the place was the owner. I was disgusted with his manner and will avoid this location next time.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel even backpackers would be better

We recently stayed a night in a 1 bedroom unit on the waterfront. The view from our balcony was exceptional. It is an older motel that has been redecorated - I would describe the accommodation as fine for a short stay. We did not use the laundry complex as we felt the cost of this was expensive at $8.00 NZD for washing machine and drier especially since everywhere we stayed during our 10 day holiday had free use of the laundry.

This is a great relaxing place to stay especially if you have a front room overlooking the water. It is in a great location away from the main street, but still close enough to everything. Maybe a little on the dear side and first time I've had to pay extra to use the spa pool.

Room Tip: Try and get a waterfront room. Lovely view.

Make sure to ask for a waterfront room. We stayed for one day, and decided to stay for another 3. Great location, in-town, (two minutes to the nearest coffee shop).Rooms are good and well maintained with balcony overlooking the tides, birds and boats in the bay and pastures beyond. Service is without pretentions, but manager's suggestions for trips (Fox II, Oakain, flowers how) were really worth it.
