Owner description: Sail with dolphins in the crater of an extinct volcano on New Zealand’s oldest gaffed rigged ketch, the Fox II. Relax and soak up the sun, sea and hills or take part as one of the crew. See Hector dolphins, New Zealand fur seals, blue and yellow-eyed penguins, albatross and other sea birds. You will be surrounded by giant volcanic sea cliffs, caves and rock formations along the journey. A guaranteed highlight of you trip, that you will remember for the rest of your life.

“Memorable End to a Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

After 4 weeks in New Zealand we finally reached Akaroa and booked an afternoon trip on Fox 11 on 29th Jan.2013. A blissful sunny day was a perfect end to the holiday, but the bonus was sailing for 4 hrs with Roy and his crew ( time means nothing on these trips) watching fur seals, blue penquins but best of all Hectors Dolphins. Imagine wonderful sunny day the music of Samuel Barber's Adagio and dozens of energetic dolphins and you have the picture. These dolphins have excellent musical taste
Truly unforgettable, many thanks Roy for a perfect conclusion to our NZ trip

“I am sailing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

Saling is really the only way to really experience the magnificent Akaroa harbour and blend in with the wildlife and scenery and this 'package' amply provides the opportunity to get up close and personal without engine noise. Good value, company, knowledge and apt music. Seabirds, seals, penguins and playful dolphins abound near the harbour entrance. Fantastic trip for all including for people off visiting cruise ships which frequent the harbor. Great job captain and crew.

“Great tour and cruise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

Looking for an experience. Try Roy and the gang and cruise the Akaroa harbor on the Fox II. Roy's knows his stuff and his narrative adds to the experience. The wildlife up close makes the trip a very memorable event of New Zealand. You will not be disappointed.

“You do see dolphins”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

Roy knows his stuff and takes you to see Hector Dolpins, seals, and bird life in Akaroa harbour. His crew of transient girls do wonders serving tea and dishing out coats and hats (it was cold when we sailed) . I did not rank 5 as the non existent seating is uncomfortable, and the toilet downstairs indescriable. And the sails do come out when wind allows. I know it is a 1947 ketch but a little creature comforts modernisation would make this brilliant. The Hectors are great.
