The wife and I enjoyed a beautiful harbor/wildlife tour on a cool, sunny day. 20 of us on the smooth-cruising boat saw lots of wildlife close-up. Murphy the dog is really an employee of the boat. when he barks, you'll see dolphins - GUARANTEED! One warning, though: If you're prone to seasickness, take your Bonine, Dramamine, etc., long before you board. A few folks aboard - not used to traveling on a 45ft boat - got really ill. Too bad cuz they couldn't enjoy those wonderful, fresh-baked cookies given to us.

Akaroa Dolphins Nature Harbour CruisesTour – -Jan 31, 2013
This was an excellent tour at $71NZ pp. The ship only holds up to 30 people and incl wine, beer or hot and cold drinks with the best home made cookies you will ever taste! We were lucky that there were only 15 people on the ship the day were there. It was so much better than the larger tours that sailed by us holding 50 people crammed into a small space. The ship was fast and stable with Captain Craig giving an informative commentary on all the sites along the way. We saw sea caves, volcanic formations, Hector Dolphins, blue penguins, fur seals and much more as we could get much closer to land than the larger tours. It was a wonderful alternative to just walking the small town and an exceptional time spent out on the water
You can even reserve ahead without a deposit and pay on the day.

This was our first day in New Zealand and a friend had arranged it for us, firstly Akaroa itself is a beautiful little town surrounded by stunning scenery, the dolphin trip was professional and slick, they don't cram loads of people onto the boat either and kit you out with wet suits etc for extra comfort. The Hector dolphins are completely wild and are not fed by the boats - so you have to be patient and wait for them to come and check you out, and they do - they are very cute and small and once you're in the water they will swim around you. It was just an amazing experience and not rushed or overly commercialised, I would recommend it to anyone. You can also opt to just ride on the boat and watch if you don't fancy getting on the water.

We were welcomed aboard by the friendly crew Craig, Patsy & Murphy the dolphin spotting dog. Craig provided an informative commentary about the area. Patsy interacted with the passengers as well as supplying drinks and choc chip cookies. Murphy spotted the hectors dolphins, and we spent some time enjoying them as they swam around the boat. Out to sea to see fur seals and various bird life. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

Boarding the boat, you're greeted by their dog, "Murphy" who is a dophin-spotter. Sure enough, if Murphy runs to one side of the boat or the other, you definitely see dolphins in the water. We also saw lots of blue penguins, seals on the shore-line, many varieties of birds.

The boat was comfortable and the crew very friendly.

Beautiful coastal scenery the whole trip.
