We are regular customers to the Red Herring approximately every 6 weeks for dinner with my wife and 3 children. Nothing is a problem for Craig and his staff. They take care of any request and always make us feel welcome. The menu is fantastic and caters to any request.

On our last visit we tried the Red Herring Sundae cocktail and Moët cocktail......I highly recommend both. Thanks again see you in a couple of weeks.

There were four of us on a Thursday evening. Surprisingly the restaurant was only half full, but customers were constantly coming and going. The location was actually very good, being over the water with good views during the day. We did not catch sight of the pod of playful dolphins.

Service was very attentive and friendly.

For starters, we had oysters from South Australia to share, 18 fresh oysters served natural; they were superb ....soooo.... good.

For mains we ordered one fish and chips, one crab cakes, and two New Zealand founder, all very good.

We were particularly impressed with the grilled NZ flounder, which came with deep fried wild prawns as garnish, and mashed sweet potato. However the fish was just too big for me to finish.

It was a quiet Autumn Monday and Red Herring on the river was the choice. We had enjoyed dinner there a year before when visiting Perth. This year there were four adults and a one year old requiring a high chair. Parking was most convenient, the service friendly and culinary advice was honest and informative. We each had two courses as decions were difficult and we wanted to taste as much local seafood as we could . The chosen dishes were greeted warmly. One was definitely the dish of the day and that was the soft shelled crab, wonderfully crisp and seasoned. On advice a semillon sav blanc (2 bottles) from the Abany area accompanied the courses. The one year old had plenty to amuse her with birds, fish, dolphins and small boats passing by. The adults, of course were agreed that it was indeed a most conducive lunch. When visiting Perth we will definitely make a booking at Red Herring once more.

I went to a function at this venue. The over water location had great views of the nearby boat traffic, and just a fantastic atmosphere. The staff could not be more helpful, and the food was fantastic. I was looking at the water in a break from the conference, and saw dolphins gracefully gliding past the venue, right there, it was amazing. I would recommend this location to anyone.

I had taken my wife out for dinner on her birthday and booked the Red Herring because the web menu showed Crayfish, guess what, they don't do Crayfish. Apart from this issue, the food was very good, the location picturesque and the staff very friendly. We would recommend the Red Herring as a place to eat.
