My OH default eating preference is Italian, so when he said we must try out Ruocco's my heart sank a bit, especially when reading some of the mixed reviews. We were unencumbered by some of the previous postees of knowing what it was like previously, so went with an open mind.
Admittedly we did go on a Saturday night, but slightly later at about 8.15pm and were seated in the "Italian" section of parts of Italy as depicted in an old fashioned family run Italian restaurants of some 30-40 years ago, which provided some entertainment whilst waiting for our food. (I did like the monochrome look in the other half of the restaurant) wait staff, of whom there were plenty were efficient and helpful and on the whole pleasant, and the food thankfully, worth the wait. Featured veggie lasagne of the day was spot on very light and tasty and the chillie prawns were to die for. Bring them on I say. Unfortunately the garlic bread with it had lost the will to live it had been around so long and had I not ordered a pizza as a main would have asked for a fresh piece. OH had the fish of the day, which was beautifully cooked and my pizza with salami and potato was wonderful. Good Place. Would happily recommend going there for any reason but especially because it is good.
