Stayed here many times as a child. So after about 10 years I went back and it was great. What a campsite right in the heart of the valley of waterfalls. We camped here but dorm rooms are available.

Rates are great per night (cant remember how much). We had a great pitch looking straight at the waterfall across the valley. Great staff. There is well stocked shop on site, with everything you need and local Swiss beer.

Showers on site work on 1/2 franc for some minutes (not sure how long but I could have a shower for 1 franc).
Am planning to cycle across France this year and will def end up there.

Retreat is probably not the best word to describe Schutzenbach. It's more of a young people's kind of place, or somewhere for a family vacation. I stayed there while on a Topdeck tour.

Rooms are in wooden cabins with bunk beds. The rooms were clean and cosy (but be warned, it's more of a school trip type of place as opposed to a 'retreat'). Showers and toilets were separate from the cabins. The shared shower and toilet facilities are about 40 metres away from the cabins and you have to pay 1/2 a Swiss Franc for 5 minutes of hot water. The shower facilities were alright, not unbearably dirty, but obviously not hotel standard...just wear slippers in there and it's fine.

There's a nice bar within the compoud where there are parties most nights due to Topdeck tours passing through. Great atmosphere and the music wasn't too loud from outside so it didn't interrupt anyone's sleep. The shops and cafes in Lauterbrunnen are all within walking distance and the campsite has a little souvenir/convenience store in the compound. The only thing I didn't really like was that the cabin doors don't have locks at all so anyone can walk in...but apparently Lauterbrunnen is so safe and everyone there knows each other that locks aren't necessary.

All in all it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

I stayed here with my partner on our top deck trip.

This place was amazing. Set in the quiet town of Lauterbrunnen at the foot of the Jungfrau mountain in a valley we were flanked by high cliffs and waterfalls. We stayed for 2 nights in a 4 share cabin. There is no bathroom in the cabin so you have to use the shared showers (and they cost a half franc for 5 min) but it wasn't too bad. There was only 1 power point in the room too which was a pain with 4 phones to charge! However the beds were comfy enough.

With not much to do in Lauterbrunnen at night, as the bars close early, the bar in the camping grounds was great. It was a great night and the beers were reasonably priced (for the very expensive Switzerland). However, down the road the the pub the beers were cheaper.

We ate in the topdeck tent and the food was OK.

The campsite is only 10 minutes walk from the train station, or well, anywhere you need to go. The town is very small.

We would definetely stay here again but I'm unsure if this place is Top Deck only..?

I stayed here with a tour group in winter in the cabins... The accomodation isn't that great with super old bunk beds that sunk in the middle and old smelly carpet. Heaters also didnt work properly so had to layer up in the sleeping bag. The restaurant has really nice food but the place is sooo musty when you walk in [trust me youll smell it] but u get over it after a while. Showers are coin operated and supposed to last 5 mins but i swear it was only 2-3 mins. I wouldnt want to spend more than the 2 nights I was there, but the short cold stay is worth it for thr surrounding scenery and going up the jungfrau. sites are amazing.
