Recently stayed at this hostel while on a trip with my girlfriend. Price was very cheap compared to the other accomodations in Lauterbrunnen. 2 nights for me and my girlfriend were CHF 152 compared to other hotels available during the same duration for GBP100+ per night.

The hostel is about 3 minutes walk from the train station. Lauterbrunnen is a very small village/town and walking from the train station to the hostel would cover at least 10% of Lauterbrunnen.

When you check in, you'll be given keys to your room and on entering the room, you're encouraged to wear room slippers rather than your own shoes. Shoes are to be left outside. By far there have been no reports on shoe theft. The rooms come with a balcony and the view of lauterbrunnen in general is beautiful. Bedsheets and pillowcases are provided but you'll have to cover them yourself. On checking out, remove your bedsheets and pillowcases and bring them to the reception hall with you. You'll have to throw them into the laundry baskets provided.

There are laundry machines available and a radiator drying room. Kitchen is well stock but it's open till 10pm. The shower and bathrooms are shared but was very clean.

I'd highly recommend Valley Hostel for budget travellers to Lauterbrunnen. I've not had the problem of bed bugs as mentioned by other reviewers.

Shared a private room in the hostel with my son and was stunned by the views out our window. The location is easily walkable to the train station and also both trains up the mountains. Place was very clean and the kitchen facilities looked very nice although we did not use them. The shared bathroom on our floor was occupied a lot so we had some waits which is the price you pay for a shared bathroom, however there was a large, clean shower/bathroom on the bottom floor that was available. Not the cheapest hostel, but cheaper than a hotel and very acceptable.

Stayed here for a few nights ski touring. Very comfortable, friendly and cheap (in any sense, amazingly so for Switzerland!). Excellent showers and bathrooms generally. There is also a launderette, ski room and luggage storage. As I was away for a few days skiing, they let me leave some clothes etc. in a separate storage room. Open a dorm window a crack at night or it gets stuffy. (Close the curtain too so others don't notice or they will shut it again!).

This was my 4th stay at the hostel. Location is excellent, close to rail station and a view of the Staubach waterfalls. The family Abegglen continues to do a great job. Facilities for budget travelers are top shelf, quite well furnished kitchens and rooms and beds are comfortable. The laundry in front of hostel adds detergent automatically and the waiting area has a comfortable love seat and some reading material. Take an evening sitting in the backyard and look up to enjoy snow covered peaks and a very nice kind of quiet. With places like this out there, I will always be a budget traveler[67 year old male] P.S. I did opt for private room this time as opposed to dorm, needed the additional quiet time

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon in a private room with shared bathrooms. The hostel itself is situated right in the center of town with wonderful view all round and everything within walking distance. The staff was very helpful in aiding us booking tickets for the Jungfrau and helping me find a camera shop in Interlaken when my SLR broke down. Our room was very clean, quiet with a wonderful view. The hostel itself has a no shoes once inside policy that helps keep everything clean. The showers are always hot and the beds soft with good sheets and pillows. For the cost - can't beat it - wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Parking is very limited - so if you get a spot leave the car for the day and walk around.

I can't fault this hostel. The price was great, less than a min from the train station, set in a picturesque landscape, friendly and helpful staff, hot powerful showers, good kitchens, super comfy bed and not a spot of dust to be seen! My friends and I were skiing and it was the perfect place for it with ski hire next door, a lockable boot room at the hostel, and easy access to the cable car with trains to Wengen every 30mins from 5am-11pm, so no problem at all. We all didn't want to leave and I will be going back!

We got a private room with a double bed and were really happy with it! You make you're own bed and take the sheets back to reception when you check out which wasn't a problem. It's a great location, across the road from the bike rental shop and a few houses from a great cafe! The kitchen is huge and was probably the best part about it along with the view! The shower is a bit small compared to the rest of the place and the laundry use is a bit expensive, but it's very clean (have read some bad things about bed bugs but didn't experience any) and the room was a great size! Would recommend it!!
