What could you not enjoy about this hotel. Our initial booking correspondence was answered quickly. Upon arrival, our receptionist was full of delight and information about the hotel and surroundings. Yes, the hotel is dated, and could do with some minor touch ups here and there, but it was all about the people, overall atmosphere, and ambience. The ladies that worked the breakfast buffet (delicious and plentiful), seemed to enjoy what they were doing, with a smile and a friendly greeting, Each morning, we would check in with reception, and run through our daily plans, and would be guided on where they thought we could improve on our days outings-every suggestion made was spot on, Dont expect a luxury hotel-because this is not what we have, We have based the score on what we have received, and it was without flaw, There is one item i believe that could be changed, or made aware of. We were on the top floor at the back of the building with a magnificent view of the falls. Obviously, this room comes at a premium-we paid this and received what we had paid for-a view without equal. Only problem was that the room next door, had been converted into a sitting room/thoroughfare, with access to the balcony and the magnificent view. This presented us with a multitude of different people on the balcony each night when we were back in the room. Dont get me wrong, this was there for everybodys enjoyment. That said, maybe if i new that this was the case with the room, or that we could of utilised this PRIOR to booking, maybe we may not of got a waterfall view room, and just got a cheaper one and spent each night on the balcony like the others. This was by far not an issue, or enough to downgrade the rating, as we found the overall experience to be exceptional. Maybe utilise this to your benefit, get a cheaper room, and make the most of the magnificent scenery afforded.

This hotel was a great find. The location was perfect, with amazing views of the waterfall and the valley. It was quiet and within walking distance to many restaurants and the 'downtown' area. It is a trek from the train station and gondolas to go up the mountain, so I would just drive there. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are true European sized, but it was clean, and the beds were quite comfortable. We had two adjoining rooms and shared a bathroom with 4 adults, 1 child. It was a full Euro-style breakfast, and even had a toy room off of the dining with lots of toys to keep the little ones happy while you dine.

There are no tvs in the room, but every window had a breathtaking view, so why do you need one? They do have a WiFi, and there was plenty of complementary parking. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is travelling here.

We absolutely loved our stay here - they could not have been more helpful with recommendations of what to do. It was so nice to have a computer with internet as well. Our room was one of the ones with a view of the Staubbach waterfall and we spent several hours on our deck that night just enjoying. The breakfast the next morning was included and was good. The only minor downfall was that you really cannot check in until 3pm, but they have a place to store your bags. Just a great place to stay!

The Hotel Staubach is what you imagine a Swiss Alps hotel should be like. The hotel which dates back to the late 1800's is old but well kept. My favorite feature is the mighty Staubach Falls which seems to be located right across the street - awesome.
The breakfast is extensive from egg choices to cheeses to fruits to granola, etc., etc. The staff is the best we encountered in our 19 day trip to Europe. They are very helpful and will go the extra mile to accommodate your requests. Our favorite was Lucy, who works the front dest. This delightful and beautiful young lady is very knowledgeable of the entire area and is very helpful in providing information to help plan a day in this beautiful part of the world.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view of the Staubach Falls and the alps. Have the camera ready especially in...

We stayed at Hotel Staubbach in mid-June for four days. Our family of four (two teenage sons) stayed in adjoining rooms on the south side facing the Staubbach Falls. Although the rooms and the hotel are aging, this didn't put us off one bit. The view itself is priceless. And we can't say enough positive things about the hotel staff. From Angie and Lucy at the front desk to Maria in the breakfast room, everyone was exceptionally kind with exceptional advice and a cheerful smile. They helped arrange for our paragliding and canyoning excursions, provided great insight on daily hikes and pointed us in the direction of good restaurants.

We'd never been to Switzerland before and were delighted not only with the beauty of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, but the hospitality from the hotel staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a south-facing room so that you overlook the falls.

My first impressions on arriving were not favourable - the hotel was old (the first built in Lauterbrunnen); the room had no TV nor fridge nor tea/coffee facilities. But then I walked on to the balcony and forgot all that - the view of the waterfalls and mountains easily outweighs those matters. And the staff were friendly and helpful and clearly worked as a team with pride. Also a very convenient location with ample parking.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking out towards the waterfalls.

My family just spent two wonderful nights at Hotel Staubbach. The hotel wasn't too far from the train station and is close to the falls. Our room was a nice size, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. I especially enjoyed the croissants. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer.
