“A rose amongst the thorns!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

I only used the word thorns because everywhere I went in Lauterbrunnen I found very expensive. This was the only decently priced place (that and the camp-ground restaurant) AND they have amazing coffee! The best I've had in Europe - no exaggeration. The chicken pie was also amazing. Free wifi is always a winner too.

“delicious!!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

The chocolate brownie and chicken pot pie could not have been more delicious. This little café was a relaxing place to sit after a day of hiking in the alps! My husband and I went twice during our 3 night stay in Lauterbrunnen. The staff is very helpful and all of their food is homemade and delicious. Sitting on the porch you have a beautiful scenic view. They also have a book exchange which my husband made use of. For those who may need it, they will also do laundry for a fee. A great one stop shop!
Wish I could have a brownie right now!!

“Best espresso machiatto mit blick in der Oberland”
Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

Originally established to sell tickets to college kids eager to jump off a mountain peak, and float gently into the spectacular Lauterbrunnen valley, along with free internet access, and some coffee, During its funf jahrs it has morphed into a full service cafe. From both inside and the covered patio, there are good views of the steep cliffs below Wengen , where I walked down 1,700 feet vertical this morning for an espresso. As soon as I walked in, the Swiss owner, a former nurse, with an English New Zealand accent ( north island, east coast) greeted me with a cheerful " your usual"? I hadn't been there for a few weeks, but she remembered, as she seems to with hundreds of others who are drawn to this unique cafe like a string magnet. Starbucks should send its people Hier, from the CEO to the baristas , to learn how to run the perfect coffee cafe.

“Yummy! What's not to like about pies?”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

On my first day,I took an early morning stroll to get coffee---and found they don't open before 9 am! I gave them another try and stopped in today for lunch- what a treat! They have meat and veggie pies. I wasn't sure what to expect (a turnover? Pot pie? A calzone? Empanada?) but then there it was- a little 5-6 inch pie with a flaky crust. What a treat! Served hot and with a smile. The chocolate brownie was a sweet way to end the meal.

“Great spot for lunch”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

This is a very busy cafe in the middle of town that attracts people of all ages - but seems to be a particular hang out for those looking for free wi-fi. It is a good place to have a smaller lunch of sandwiches, salads, quiche or tasty desserts. We particularly liked the "hearty" and "vegetarian" sandwiches. The cappuccinos were very good and prices were quite reasonable. Seating capacity (both inside and out) is quite limited, but with patience we were always able to find a spot and we never felt rushed to leave once we had finished eating.
