“Wonderful accommodation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014

I echo the post of Jeanette D on 24 June 2012 - this review is regarding CHALET Horner, run by Teresa Steiger. It looks as though some there is a mix of reviews here, some for CHALET HORNER and other for Hotel Horner.

We visited CHALET HORNER in early April 2014 and stayed in the Jungfrau apartment on the first floor, a 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchenette and ensuite with a great little lounge area with a table and 4 chairs. The apartment was very comfortable, impeccably clean, the bed was bedding were top rate. The kitchen was fully stocked with all that you could think you may want, cutlery, china, glassware (including wine glasses), variety of quality cutting knives, bowls and serving platters, a small electric stove and a drawer full of little kitchen gadgets. We had our own balcony with the most amazing view, from where we ate our breakfast and then we were there again enjoying an afternoon glass of wine and nibbles. We could see the waterfalls in one direction and the other we could see the little trains to and from Wengen. The apartments are near the train line but noise was not a problem.

Wifi is available for a small fee. Train station to Interlaken & Wengen is a 5 minute walk as is the station to the Schilthorn on the way to both you would pass a Coop. Nice restaurants nearby as are the bakers, butcher, deli.

The Horner is a great place to stay if you are looking for a budget place to stay. It's not luxurious, but its location is fantastic and it directly above the a bar. It can be a bit noisy, but the staff there are always friendly. They also have a great range of apartments to rent which are well equipped.

Room Tip: Get a room from the top floor if you are not hiring an apartment

We stayed at Chalet Horner for four nights. The Jungfrau apartment was small but well equipped with wonderful views of the valley and falls. The balcony just great with all day sun. Good value for Lauterbrunnen.

I've been visiting Lauterbrunnen every year for over 10 years now, and have been in the Horner countless times for a beer, and even had to stay there a couple of times in a pinch.
It's half the price of any other "hotel" in Lauterbrunnen, but well under half as nice. If you're looking for budget accommodation, there are other options in town that are cute, rustic, and less expensive. Everything about the Horner Hotel is very dated, and the food is abhorrent.

This was the best place to stay for our visit to Switzerland. We had nine people with ages from 80 to 9 years of age. We had the first floor of the apartment and the room right outside. This was perfect for the number of people we had The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner. Tthe space was big enough to fit us all comfortably. Angie was a wonderful manager helping us get the apartment when we could not located anything else. We had to change our schedule but were able to book six days for our stay there. The views were great from our balcony, the church bells were charming to hear and the waterfall was close. The city park was about one block so the kids could play and the waterfall was close for them to hike every night. The pub was a great place to escape to at night. The sky divers used the court yard to fold their parachutes and that was fun to watch. The location for daily excursions was ideal for what we planned to do while we were there. Overall I want to go back and stay there again!

Room Tip: The bath tub was hard for the older members of the family. The apartment on the bottom level was a...

This review is for the Horner Pub Apartment across from the Pub which is owned by the same people, but not as easy to find on the web. Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids spent the end of June 2013 in the top apartment (4th floor) which included the entire floor and had three bedrooms (two beds pushed together, and two rooms with two bunk beds in each room), a living room, and a fully equiped kitchen, as well as a bathroom. This place was trully a jem since we felt like we were at home, however, with amazing views of the famous falls of Lauterbrunnen. Check-in was easy, at the pub, and parking was included. This is the place to stay on a budget in an amazing place. Although it is at the end of town, you will have the best view of the falls. The apartment has two balconies on either side where you can rest and unwind at the end of the day. I would definitely stay here again. The only negatives, if you can call them that, is that the wifi connection is with the pub across the street so was difficult to have a continuous connection. My only other advice, if I was to return to the area again, would be to consider staying in Wengen, higher up from the valley and only reachable with the local train in the area (since they don't allow cars), since its views are of the valley which are a bit more dramatic. However, the pictures of the hotel and from the hotel are very accurate and stunning. Loved the place.

I guess we stayed at the Chalet, it was across the street from the pub and we had the whole bottom floor! It was really big for the two of us we had a living room (with cable and 2 couches), kitchen, bedroom and bathroom! More than we needed, but nice! It was definitely dated, like 70's IKEA but was clean so we didn't really care. Really nice being across from the Horner Pub, great place for food and beer! It was about a 10 min walk from the train station, a 2 minute walk to Staubbauh Falls and a 30 minute walk to Trummelbach Falls. Loved Lauterbrunnen!
