For a relaxing holiday, you cannot beat this place. Have just spent a week here. Did absolutely nothing except sunbathe and read....Was fabulous!
Had an apartment with a massive corner balcony on floor 3 over looking the estuary, sun all afternoon and evening, with sunset at 8.45pm. I booked quite a while ago so got a promo deal, I was there alone, but there was room for at least 4 people in the apartment, it was massive.
Kettle, coffee maker, lots of pans, cutlery, crockery, knives, chopping boards, etc plus toaster, microwave grill and 2ring hob, enough to get by with, plenty of tea towels but I recommend taking a dish cloth... I know......., what a wierd holiday tip!
Free boat to beach about 4 minute walk, running from 9am to 7pm, shuttles back and forwards constantly, so never have to wait longer than 5 minutes to get across the water. No facilities on the beach at the boat stop, but you can walk up to the boat point across from Cabanas main area and there is a cafe etc.
Supermarket about 10 mins walk, closes at 8pm.
Only spent one afternoon by the pool on the sunday afternoon, and it was quite busy, otherwise went to the beach, everyday, which was beautiful, clean, with soft white sand and nearly deserted. After about 5.45pm I was probably the last person on it!
This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel, the last time being about 4 years ago. It is still, safe, clean, quite well equipped and tidy, staff are helpful, although they would rather me speak to them in English rather than my pigeon Portuguese, ( I'm not very good, but I try)......
Didn't eat in the restaurant, but from previous experience know it to be very good.
Check out is at midday, so if you are late to leave, there are good facilities in the basement for showers etc and there is a luggage room, and the reception staff don't hand out the key, they come down to the room with you, so it is safe to leave everything in there.
As I travel a lot on my own, I cannot stress the importance of feeling safe and secure in a place and this particular area of the Algarve has this in abundance. I would recommend this area to anyone who is looking for a very relaxing holiday.

Hi, Yes its me again the Old Crocodile Man - Well I am over sixty five.
This time we managed to squeeze In a couple of weeks in Portugal. We have been to the Cabanas Park Resort before with friends - Its our chill - out break between more distant holidays. However, this time I chose to drive as we like seeing the different scenery etc. that you don't see when flying. Yes you get there quicker but not necessarily cheaper. We went through The Tunnel and then through France , Spain, and Portugal it took 23 hours with just a few stops for petrol and coffee. Happy to provide more info if requested - tolls , route, etc.
The reason we like Cabanas is its not touristy, just nice and relaxing in the proper Portuguese way of life.
We arrived at around mid- day had a coffee in Tavira and then checked in about 3pm.
Cabanas Park is not all glitz and frills but it is clean tidy and has lovely gardens and views. we were self catering but there are other options. Having the car was good as we could shop at the Supermarket in Tavira, although you can get practically all you need in Cabanas fresh fish, local fruit and veg being plentiful. There are lots of little restaurants and cafe's on the decked waterfront. The beach is by a small boat /Taxi a couple of Euro's but an ever improving café provides snacks /meals and booze on the beach. There is a charge for sunbeds 5 Euro,s per day but the sandy beach is free.
Back to the hotel there is free Wi Fi for those of you who cant do without you're IPads or laptops. There is a gym , a hot tub, and available activities there are swimming pools for both adults and children but no animation crew (thank god) and there is some evening entertainment. The staff are friendly and, helpful when needed. We found just walking into cabanas and having a drink or two and a meal if we couldn't be bothered to cook was just fine. There are lots of historic things to see but you do need a car to travel although people we met did go by train ? We went to a sand carving sort of museum about forty minutes drive where they have a different theme every year - this year is music so all the sand statues were of musicians , singers , groups etc. and sand sculpture's come from all around the world so well worth a visit.
I hope you are getting the feeling of Cabanas but if you are looking for the clubs bars and nightlife then you need to go the other side of Faro which is doable but a fair journey for an evening. If you are like us and just want to relax and experience Portuguese way of life then you will enjoy Cabanas. In fact there are a large number of English people living in the Cabanas area. Oh!! the weather nearly forgot May is very pleasant the latter half I think is better Sunny while we were there for two weeks but can be a bit windy and chilly at night but on the whole a good tan was achieved.
Overall a very good hotel stay even though we chose self catering this time. Still remains excellent value for money and nothing to much trouble for Management and staff. General cleanliness throughout the hotel cannot be faulted. Although we did not eat in the restaurant this year we know the food is very good and well presented as was confirmed by people we spoke to.
We are going back next year and yes I will be driving.
Please feel free to ask any questions about the drive, the hotel, and anything I might have missed and I'll do my best to help.
Until my next review which will be in October when we be renting a villa in Sharm el Sheikh (which looks like a a mansion with its own pool and waterfall) and comparing it with our usual All Inclusive Hotel holidays.
Happy Holidaying !!

Crocodile Man.

The waiters in the restaurant really made our holiday. They really took care everyone and were funny and helpful. The chef was great and the food was just incredible - the fish was always fresh that day and considering the evening meal was buffet style, it was really well done. The weather wasn't always favourable so having the indoor hot tub on the roof with views of the sea was just perfect!

My husband and I had a wonderful holiday here in Cabanas Park for 12 nights in May/June this year. Everything was first class in our apartment with large balcony overlooking the pool. Spotlessly clean everywhere, lovely apartment with plenty of space! Kitchen space and utensils great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool side gorgeous, no problems with sunbeds. Only negative was restaurant staff who looked and acted grumpy all the time. Not that this mattered as there were plenty of lovely restaurant and bars in Cabanas village which was only a 7 minute walk away. Beautiful unspoilt undiscovered part of Portugal. Always we holiday in West Algarve but this time we were in the East because of my cousin's wedding in Velha Caecela and Monte Rei Country Club Vila Nova de Caecela. Fabulous part of Portugal and we will definitely be back to Cabanas Resort Park p.g. We partook of the free boat service from the Resort to the Beach and loved it too. All in all wonderful and thanks to everyone in Cabanas Resort Park for their hospitality and friendliness and great spirit.

Great apartments, with great air con, lovely pool and nicely planned out apartments and areas. Quite a walk to anywhere else if you haven't rented a car as it is at the far end of the village with no shops or bars anywhere near.
Don't bother with evening meal option as it is very very basic and not worth the extra money. Breakfast is very nice and plentiful.
I would definitely book again and would recommend this as a great budget place to visit.

A week in this hotel was enough. The location, the resort, the beach, and the apartment were absolutely fine. However, the staff were unfriendly, the bar prices exorbitant, they promise regular linen changes and cleaning, and I have never seen such a fast 'lick and polish' that we got only twice in the week.
My sister and I are vegetarian, and the food was of a very poor standard. We do eat fish, and only one night when there were no vegetarian options, did we actually get an identifiable fish for dinner. We were half board, and the same applied for breakfast. Jelly-like scrambled egg and watery baked beans were our only hot breakfast option for 7 days! NOT FOUR STAR STANDARD by any means.
There was no lounge area, just a few seats by the bar, but for those who wanted to relax outside of their apartment or by the pool, there was no public area to sit.
The redeeming factor however, was the jacuzzi on the roof. The gardens were clean and tidy and very well kept.
Would go back to cabanas as a resort, it was lovely, but not to this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room facing the marsh, very quiet and sunny balcony in the evenings.

just returned from seven nights half board. rooms very clean, large balcony, cleaning service very good, hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. food of reasonable standard. very large pool area with plenty of sun beds for everyone. use free boat service, ask directions at hotel, few minutes walk to the beach but the beach is vast, 7 kms long. long walk to the beach bar but you can also catch the boat back from beach bar to the town at a small cost.Town 1/2 mile away from hotel. nice views of the river from the boardwalk. recommend sabores da ria restaurant, wonderful fish, try fish cataplanas (fish stew in copper pan) order night before 32 euros or any thing of the menu, book table on the balcony. best bar we found was ti panita next door to pizzaria (signage very poor), very small bar with good quality drinks and service, large beer and glass of wine 3 euoros. good cocktails and irish coffees wonderful. recommend a visit to tavira, can catch local bus but only 10 euros in taxi, recommend climb up to the castle, garden & church with spectacular roof top views of the town.gym at hotel very old, but if you want exercise walk to the island before the town and follow the blue line and then the cycle signs for miles of tracks for running/walking/cycling

Room Tip: ask for river view
