We only stayed at this hotel for one night - what a mistake - next time it will be for much longer. We had a great room overlooking the marsh out to sea, equally good were the rooms overlooking the pool. Although the self catering facilties were very good we had booked breakfast as we were only staying one night and what an excellent choice that turned out to be a great choice with a great selection of fresh food served by a waiter who appeared that nothing could be too much trouble for him - the receptionist was very friendly as well and I am sure that she would sort out anything that you need. The hotel was about 10 minutes walk from the town but on a flat road so no problem at all - however, based on the breakfast offering we would also try the on-site restaurant as well next time. Although not travelling with children I would say that this place is perfect for families with small children.

First of let me start with Airport to Hotel/Hotel to Airport information. A cheap, fun way of getting to the hotel from Faro airport. We got a bus (1.90 Euro each) to Faro, then from the bus station in Faro we got a bus to Conceição de Tavira (4.50 Euro each). 10 minutes form airport then around an hour to Conceição de Tavira. The only thing is that the timetable of buses and trains are not regular so unless you're patient and adventurous I suggest you pay silly prices for a taxi to drop you off. Getting back, we got the Train from Conceição de Tavira to Faro and that was (7.20 Euros for both) and then we got a bus from the bus station to Praia Faro, which is a very nice beach 10 minutes away from the airport.. spent the last 5 hours there before traveling back and that only cost (1.90 Euro each).

Transport in general is a pain because of the times in between the services but if you ask the receptionists who are very nice and friendly, you can have a timetable and plan things better.

As for the Hotel, it was in a very nice quiet area... I am not sure if it was the season or if it is always quiet there though. The Hotel was massive and nice from the inside once you pass reception.. felt like a new built flat complex. The room was great, really spacious and very clean. My only cons are that the shower curtain seemed stained and needs replacing and the two single beds stuck together were annoying for a couple to sleep on and thin sheets but that is personal preference. The kitchen has everything, toaster, microwave, cutlery etc...

There is a huge pool and mini ones surrounding it, I did not use because it was very cold and not hot enough outside. There is also a Jacuzzi on the top of the Hotel with a decent view that closes at 8pm. Also a small Sauna room and a little Gym area. All pretty decent but nothing amazing for a 4 star hotel. The restaurant is very nice, we had an amazing meal there and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was.

Around the Hotel/Area there are many restaurants but the area itself is almost like a ghost town. We were there from Saturday to Tuesday and I have never been in a place so quiet on a weekend.. suppose it's because I am used to London and the busy streets. There is an amazing Grill restaurant with a lady that works and runs the whole place.. nice cheap food and very funny lively lady. It has that local feel and taste to it. There are also a few supermarkets although most seem almost full of empty shelves? No idea why. But if you are self catering like us then no need to worry.

We hired a bicycles and they came in handy for shopping and trips to the train station. We even used it to travel to Tavira and to the waterfall (Pogo De Inferno) which was painful but worth it. Don't do it if you are not fit enough because of all the hills... going down was lots of fun but going up with a pain in the a...

The great thing about this hotel is that it's in an area not too far from Spain, so we went by train to Vila Real (8.40 Euro Return for both) and then got the Ferry which is 10 minutes walk from the station.. and that was a little fee of (1.70 Euro each). The Ferry takes 10 minutes or so to get to Ayamonte Spain where it is more lively and a good place for shopping and relaxation. Unfortunately we could not do our original plan to go Seville because it's 2 hours by bus and the times of the buses were crap but if you are staying for more than a few days I'd highly recommend going and maybe staying the night in Seville as it would be pointless to come back with that silly time table for buses and trains that they have.

In general, it was a great Hotel and I'd highly recommend it.

The negatives first,
The right Ctrl key on the lobby computer keyboard didn't work.
I know you look for them....
The rest.....
Well, it was fab, peaceful, clean, luxury, served up in paradise.A short stroll to the boat that takes you to the beach island to die for. A slightly longer walk brings you to the village of Cabanas itself with it's nightlife for all, or daytime people watching. Fish is the order of the day in the wonderful rustic restaraunts, with great salad accompaniments and suberb local wines.
A short bus ride to Tavira is a must, with lunch by the river. And before they modernise all the Rail rollingstock, (Will be sometime in the current crisis) a trip to Villareal and boat trip over to Spain from Concecio station.
Mrs R and Mrs J can't wait to go back......

Gorgeous weather (even in september), amazing hotel with extremely clean apartment sized rooms, overlooking the ria formosa natural park. The staff and all in hotel services were spot on! From our balcony we could see the coastline and part of the park which was crammed with wild flamingo's! Only a short walk into the village centre which has a few small quiet restaurants and bars. The beaches were almost deserted with the whitest sands and bluest sea, an amazing holiday which only cost approx £650 for 2, I would go back tomorrow!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel and we thought it was fantastic! After having read some terrible reviews on here we were very aprehensive and at one point considered switching our hotel before we had even left the UK! However I am very glad we stuck with our first choice,we had no problems on arrival or departure and the rooms were very spacious and had everything we needed for our self catering stay included, also if you are staying self catering there is a great little supermarket about a 5/10 minute walk from the hotel that sells lots of lovely protuguese food. The pool at this hotel is massive and great for kids... as we were travelling without children we decided to venture out of the hotel to the beach, the beach in Cabanas is fantastic! very very clean and quiet compared to the other beaches we visited with lovely clear waters and a free private boat to and the town provided by the hotel. If you cannot find the hotel boat then there is another one at the end of the promenade that only costs 1.50 euro for the day. The spa facilities at the hotel are great if you fancy a bit of luxury at the end of a busy day relaxing by the pool or on the beach, the rooftop jacuzi is a particularly romantic place to watch the sunset. As for the restraunt at the hotel, I would not overly recommend this, the staff are quite rude and seemed to stare at me and my partner to the point where we felt uncomforable and left, also the food was over priced and no where near the same quality as the food in some of the traditional places in Cabanas town. In a nut shell, If you like quiet places with a relaxing atmosphere and great weather and not much else then Cabanas Park is the place for you! We will definatley be returning for some much needed relaxation next year!

Loved the resort. It's well staffed with basic but fully adequate amenities. Probably too quiet for younger travelers, but was a great place to retreat for a few days. It is literally at the end of the road, so be prepared to be somewhat removed from most outside amenities. But the hotel had everything we needed and the town of Cabanos is only a 15 minute walk away. The hotel restaurant food was fine. The pool was great. The beach was fantastic. I would definitely go again and thought it was good value for the money. It's not a 5 star resort, but then you aren't paying for 5 stars either.

If you walk into the town of Cabanos, find the 'Little Orange' restaurant for a great meal of fish and chips.

We have used this hotel three years running after carefully reading reviews on TA.

So be told, IT IS A QUIET RESORT, and if that is what you are looking for great. If not, then don't go.

The hotel is situated about 1/2 a mile from the main seafront street and is therefore a 15 minute walk through a mainly residential / apartment block area. Some building is still going on adjacent but we never hear anything.

I would say it's a good 3 star resort but compared with other apart-hotels we've used, it's much better.

Apartments are fairly large, good balconies (like everywhere it depends where your situated) some with pool views and others look out onto the nature reserve. There are good unobstructed views from most apartments.
A basic kitchenette with fridge, two ring hob, micro-grill and sink provides some flexibility.

The hotel does advertise a gym, but if you're a serious workout person you will be disappointed as some of the equipment could do with updating or replacement, still usable though. The jacussi and steam room are a good bonus at the end of the day, however I bet they get busy at peak times (but couldn't honestly comment there).

I would recommend this for mature couples (over 40s) or those wanting to "chill-out" away from the rat race. There's a good pool that would entertain the kids but honestly it's not a young family resort, although they do advertise "animation programs".

The restaurant has always given us a good meal at a fair price, but as with all hotels there is a premium over the local eateries which also offer good food mostly.

Hope this gives you some idea of this "nice and quiet" place in Cabanas de Tavira.
