“Lovely Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

We stayed here for a week (adult + 17yr and 14 yr). We stayed on half board and found plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner. All is buffet style, and while some things suffer a little from not being freshly cooked, trays were constantly replenished and the dining room was very efficiently run. There was some hotel entertainment, but we did not take part in any of it, so would be unfair to comment. It is used by Saga holidays and there was a friendly atmosphere amongst other the guests. We were lucky with the weather and there were always plenty free loungers and only a very few occasionally 'booked' before breakfast! The hotel was clean and our room was well serviced daily. Tavira is a lovely town, acknowledging tourism, but also with local people getting on with their lives. Days trips to Spain, Faro, the island and Seville are all possible. The hotel is less than 15 mins walk to the train station. There were pleasant public areas in which to sit inside and the indoor heated pool was a bonus.

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay.

The positives
We arrived around 9.15pm and still got some food. We were given a free bottle of wine that evening. The location is good - just 10 minutes walk to the market square. The breakfast is tasty.

The negatives
You need to park behind the petrol station around the corner. Otherwise you risk parking in a space that you must pay for.
The choice of food at breakfast is narrow and does not change. There is no one cooking omlettes or other fresh food.
The rooms are tired and need to be renovated.
There are no double beds in the hotel - not very romantic!
The wi-fi in public areas is free but costs €5 per day in your room and they have to issue a unique account and password at the reception desk.
There was a dreadful smell outside the front of the hotel throughout our stay.

On balance, we won't return.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay in this hotel, we arrived late and was very impressed with the friendly, smiley male receptionist, as we were with all of them throughout our stay. We stayed on the top floor, 3rd, in room 3040 which overlooks the pool and is one of a few that get the afternoon sun. The hotel is a little tired in places, it has an 80's feel about it but for what we paid we felt it was excellent value for money, 310 euros for 5 nights including breakfast found on the Internet. The pool is great, although a little chilly, with loads of sunbeds. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice but we were disappointed with the one buffet dinner we had but when are buffet meals good? Overall a good hotel in a great location, we parked for free in the street but walked into town everyday and evening, great bonus. The one thing we didn't like was that smoking is allowed in some rooms on every floor, there was a faint smell of smoke walking through the corridors, make sure you book a non smoking room if it's important to you. We would return.

Room Tip: The hotel is sandwiched between two fairly busy roads, the rooms facing the pool are quieter general...

This hotel is in a good location only 5 minutes walk from some restaurants and bars, 10 minutes to the old bridge and the main restaurant area. Nice entrance and pool area. Room was a bit disappointing, beds a bit hard and basic furniture. The floor was tiled but a couple of these were loose. Breakfast was buffet with a wide selection. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were there at end of September and boat to the Ilha de Tavira beach is less than 5 min walk as it goes from the town later in the season. Did not try restaurant as too quiet in evening

Room Tip: Would go for room overlooking pool next time

We recently stayed at this hotel while traveling in Spain with friends with an overnight stop in Tavira. This is a large hotel that is easy to find with walking distance to restaurants. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
