It is perfectly located in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. They have a boat to take you to the nearest beaches (Ilha de Tavira and Terra Estreita).
The hotel has 2 outdoor swimming pools (one of them to children with water slides).
The rooms and the food are not luxurious but ok for a 4 star hotel.
I recommend you to have dinner in some local Restaurants in Tavira and Sta. Luzia.

Room tip: The rooms in the main building have the best view to Ria Formosa

This hotel is unique. It is a converted tuna fish factory village complete with school, church and library all in the hotel grounds. The rooms are converted fishermans cottages. It is absolutely lovely . A quiet venue , 15 minutes drive from Tavira. The staff are delightful , rcption staff are very helpful, and the food is just excellent. Two points they could improve on . The free shuttle bus to Tavira does not go at all on a Monday or Tuesday or any evening, and the rooms are often not serviced until after 3 pm. Not the maids fault . They have very many rooms to service. Small points they could easily fix. I have loved staying here, two minutes walk from the beach. (Free fast wifi)

Because this hotel is close to salt lakes, there are plenty of mosquitoes. It would have been nice if this was mentioned to us so we could have prepared ourselves. This problem could be prevented by planting lavender, mint, etc... around the buildings and putting insect screens in the rooms....
The staff makes this hotel worth visiting! Excellent people and one can only hope they get the appreciation they deserve from the company!
This is one of many 'vila Galé' hotels and they should improve some things:
- no mattress cover????
- food and drinks are quite pricy. Breakfast is very good, dinner could be better.
- quantity and quality of umbrella's could be better
- the pool bar has many sparrows flying around and they fly into the kitchen
They is animation for those who are into that! The 'Club Nep' girls are very enthusiastic and very friendly!

Room tip: River view is a better option, but more expensive

The hotel Vila Galé Albacora - a former tuna fishing camp - is a bit remote and isolated, probably the biggest disadvantage. If you want to explore other restaurants outside of the hotel complex you better have a car or being prepared for hiring taxis.
The old fisherman houses were built into hotel rooms, not very spacious but nice, clean and air-conditioned. The hotel is situated in the National Park of Ria Formosa, but only a few rooms (slightly more expensive) are actually facing the river side. These room's tiny terraces provide a beautiful view over the riverbank. But be warned, you better have a effective mosquito repellent handy in order to enjoy a beautiful sunset.
The hotel complex has everything to enjoy an 'all-inclusive'-type of holidays, and it seems very family and children friendly with kids club and pool playground.

The Buffet-style breakfast is of good quality, maybe a bit boring after a few days. Free Wifi is well covered across the entire hotel complex.
The hotel staff is friendly and attentive.
Great for beach lovers: The hotel has a private boat access to the beaches of Tavira. At the back of the hotel there is a small jetty where every hour a small ferry starts to the island of Tavira. A more private and quieter beach is the 'Praia da Terra Estreita' which is a 20min boat ride.

Great service, great food with healthy options available. Boat service from hotel to Tavira Island ran throughout day. Brilliant yoga class on the Friday. Visited in May when there was a breeze but suncream needed! Impressed by the Eco values here and devotion to wildlife. Lovely and peaceful.

Room tip: Ask if you need a kettle. No trouser press.
