Tavira and its neighbour Barrill are a few klms apart and both are beautifull. To get to Tavira you travel over by boat and to Barril you can get a little train which is really great fun. The restaurants in Barrill are really good with a new fish restauant just open. the sardines are great and really inexpensive.A must.
If you like a beautifull beach with very people on it this is for you

Long walk and 5 minute ferry in the off- season. Not many maps of the island, so just know that as you walk along the main pathway you'll pass several restaurants...then emerge at an amazing beach. Soft sand, stretches forever, fantastic seashells. If you go to Tavira, you really must go here. Wow.

We went to the islands of Tavira last year, we had a marvellous day.
The transfer by boat is cheap and the views are spectacular!
The beaches are wide and open, the water clear.
It's a paradise for sunlovers and naturism.

To be near the ocean, all day.
Sleep, eat, play in the beach..
Living in the house in this island was superb, in the morning eat in frontface ocean, in the evening dining outside.
When the see was not so good go to the port.

We visited in January - short trip across on the ferry from Tavira. At high tide there was absolutely no-one to be seen, at low tide there were a few people digging for shellfish along the edge of the sea. Beautiful sandy beach with dunes behind it. We spent ages picking up shells and enjoying the peacefulness.
