“Daily fresh Pasta and Service”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

The restaurant is very well decorated nevertheless the daily fresh pasta, that we have ordered, is coming from the supermarket (confirmed by the employees) and charged at €15!, I considered this an outrageous!
The service was very, very slow and when I discussed with the waiter the issue related with this daily "fresh pasta", he told me that would be a dish that he would not recommend to anyone .
To conclude this great experience, they charged for this supermarket Pasta!

Dear client, we always take into consideration all of our clients ´reviews and think of them as a basis to keep improving our work and the quality of our cuisine. However I really did not understand the scope of your review and I will explain why.

At Amore Vero we use the freshest and best quality ingredients in our cuisine: DOP genuine italian smoked meats and cheeses bought from an italian supplier, DOP portuguese extra virgin olive oil, the best quality italian dried pastas, also bought from an italian supplier, and fresh vegetables, meat, fish and seafood as opposed to frozen ones. We use homemade stocks (made with fresh ingredients in our kitchen) in all our sauces (vegetable stock, beef stock, duck or chicken sauce and seafood stock depending on the dish) and refuse to use any processed ingredients and powdered sauce mixes whatsoever.

When you complained about the pasta dish (served no to you but to your wife, you said your pasta dish with salmon was excellent) the waitress offered to bring you a different dish of your choice and you explicitly told her that that was not necessary at all. At the end of your meal you asked the waitress if the pasta had been made in our kitchen that day and she told you the truth: no it was not, actually the chefs buy it from a supplier, she answered.

We do not buy our italian products in a supermarket, we are running a restaurant not a family household. In most supermarkets we usually find 400 grams packages of poor quality fresh pasta. This fresh pasta (Cappelletti) is bought to one of our italian suppliers: it is made by hand in Italy with 00 flour, durum wheat flour and stuffed with DOP Prosciutto Crudo, DOP Prosciutto Cotto and DOP Parmesan and contains no additives.
Perhaps you need to be informed that Cappelletti is the most time consuming pasta to make and that is why we buy it from a genuine italian products supplier in the summer (since we are fully booked everyday and have lots of mise en place to do in the kitchen but still want our clients to try this pasta).

The rest of the year we make our fresh pasta (and keep using the best quality italian dried pasta also) like pappardelle, ravioli, black fettuccine, etc. When we make our fresh pasta we do not make it only for that day (again we are running a restaurant not a family kitchen) and we have several different solutions to keep it: refrigerate it, dry it naturally or freeze it, all of these solutions allow the pasta to maintain its flavour qualities and ensure the safety for consuption.

You chose not to accept a different dish but to complain on Tripadvisor and to divulge your review in a language that is not your first language. You are portuguese and your wife is italian so what is the purpose of writing a review in english? Unless you have a clear hidden purpose or some defamation intention.

Your wife ate the pasta so why should we not charge it? I eat this pasta all the time and can assure its quality. You were the first client to complain about this product. It would be fine to charge it if it had been made in our kitchen but it is not ok to charge it since someone else made it and we bought it? Someone had to make it, cappelletti do not grow spontaneously in packages.

Regarding your complaint of a slow service since you were feeding your baby the waitress did not want to be intrusive or to rush you, next time make sure you ask to speed up everything so that your food gets cold while you feed your child and we will quicly cook your dinner in the kitchen.

You also mentioned that the waitress said that she would not recommend that pasta dish to anyone when what she said was that Capelletti was not the first dish to be recommended by the waiters. And this is not due to the quality of the pasta but because it is a simple dish. There are dishes on the menu that the chefs like to promote primarily in order to highlight their creative abilities.

Great food, lovely Italiano dishes, fab duck compot, service good lovely cosy bar inside, local cats meowndering amongst the diners on the terrace but not a problem,a bit of a shock as the price of a coffee was excessive at 3.50 Euros a cup I suggest a coffee elsewhere in town.

“authentic italian n portugal!?”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

We were recommended this place and managed to get a table outside without a booking, but all the other tables were taken, so I would give them a call in the afternoon to make sure.
There is a good 2 course set menu for 18 Euros with a nice starter like bruschetta of ricotta with pesto and main of veal escalope with linguine and parsley sauce.
Bread/olives and sorbet course included.
The service is a bit unhurried and uncoordinated, but we weren't in a rush, we were on holiday right?
We ate there twice and tried the a la carte menu which was also fabulous and with wine came in at about 45 Euro a head.
Nice that it isn't in the main restaurant arcade in the town centre. It's got a nice vibe. If you fancy a change from sardines and want a special night with friends or partner, then give it a go.

“One of the more expensive places in tavira! Not as good as Aguasul”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a ten day holiday in Tavira, after looking at top places to eat on trip adviser we decided to try here. The spring set menu was very good at €17.90 but if you don't like cheese (my boyfriend doesn't) then it Is not for you, we therefore decided to have just a main. We were shocked to find most mains are €23 which is expensive compared to most places in Tavira. We both had chicken in Parma ham with a sauce at around €17 each, the food was very flavoursome but lacked something special for the extra in the price compared to other restaurants! Overall for value for money and quality Aguasul (another Italian) was much better!

“A must try”
Reviewed September 15, 2012 via mobile

We dined here while staying in Tavira and weren't disappointed. The Spring set menu was outstanding, reasonably priced and even with palette cleansers between the first and main courses. Service was friendly and attentive and the outdoor area under the stars was very charming. If you eat anywhere in Tavira eat here
