“Best in Tavira”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Went twice as the food & service were great. Nicest decor/ surroundings of any Tavira restaurant. All the food was well made, beautifully presented & very good value as you can have a starter & main or dessert for 16 euros. With an excellent bottle of wine, beers, starters, mains, 1 dessert & the bread etc the bill was 60 euros for 2. I really enjoyed the meals, fabulous.

“Lovely fresh food”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

We were recommended to Aquasul by the hosts of our B&B, who go there for special occasions. Its prices are not high by UK standards, but are a bit more than the local, more traditional, restaurants. Most of these seem to favour a lot of brown wood and a cosy atmosphere, but Aquasul has more of a fresh, light design with contemporary mosaic tiles and paintings on the walls.
The menu is more limited than most, but that is usually a good sign, of a place that takes its ingredients, preparation and cooking seriously. There are three daily specials (although when we went back the next night two of them were the same). The food is attractively presented, not over-seasoned and with many more vegetables than you usually get in Portugal.
On a quiet Friday night off-season, this was one of the few places in central Tavira that was packed out so they must be doing something right. The service is friendly and the staff were able to help Spanish guests as well as English/American ones.

“A bit different”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

We had a great time here and will be sure to go back. The menu is a bit different than the usual Tavira restaurant. It is short, maybe 5 - 7 item,s which gives you the feeling that everything is fresh and in season. Our meals, pate, warm goat's cheese, cod tart and duck comfit hit on 3 of the 4. The duck could have been a bit better. However the place was very busy and had a nice, fun atmosphere. Prices seemed in line with the other restaurants we've been to in Tavira.

“Cosy Aquasul”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Pretty little Aquasul serves good food although the menu is quite (too?) limited. We shared a pizza with anchovis as a starter (above average) and took spaghetti with vegetables and very tast slices of squid. Try the Dona Ermelinda red wine, almost velvet. Service is friendly.

“Bitterly disappointed”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Oh dear!! We have been going to Aquasul for 7 years now and the food has always been fantastic - great menu, friendly staff but our most recent visit proved to be a real disappointment. Basically the menu, with the odd exception, has not really changed for a long while but it was a brilliant mix of fish, meat and vegetarian options. However, on our last visit earlier this month we found a completely new menu with very little choice. We arrived for an 8.15 reservation and by this time they had taken off one of the specials and the steak had already run out and what was left was very "niche". I know that they wanted to change the menu but do it by introducing perhaps one or two new dishes not the whole menu. It wasn't broke but you still tried to fix it. Sadly we will not be returning for some while now.
