Ardamis Traditional Guesthouse

Our room, which had an additional seating area and small well equipped kitchen, was beautiful. Breakfast was good. Monemvasia is a beautiful location. The new town across the causeway is also worth a visit with all amenities and many cafes and restaurants.

As most visitors have described, this is a unique property in a very special place. The two bedroom maisonette we stayed in was charming, but not outstanding in terms of cleanliness or attention to detail. Our stay would have been more than comfortable if we had not had broken down aircon in one of the bedrooms and non-working wifi. The wifi was simply an annoyance but the lack of aircon in the July heat was a major inconvenience; and the owners' attitude was to say the least indifferent. I appreciate this may have been unlucky but I would not stay at Ardamis again when there seems to be a range of similar accommodation in Monemvasia.

Monemvasia is a unique - and Ardamis is an equally unique hotel. Built in an 800 years old house where you both get the experince of the old and get the pleasures of modern amenities. We stayed in an apartment that had everything - even a small Hamam!

The room had a small cosy outside courtyard, and when you walked out of the courtyard door you were just next to the city wall. And if you need more of a sun balcony you could just go through the reception area and there there was a very big balcony with the most wonderful view.

But facilities and location does not alone make a great hotel - the staff/owners is also very important. And when concerning the staff/owners at Ardamis you do not only get an excellent hotel guest service - the fantastic hosts at Ardamis makes you feel as guest of the house. In all aspects of your stay you feel welcome. And the breakfast is outstanding!

Ardamis is one of those hotels you consider not to recommend - because you really, really want to keep it to yourself!! But that would not be fair - this hotel is highly recommended!!

Being located in the Castro, this hotel is truly quaint and very lovely. It is also very close to the gates, so bringing in your luggage is not as much of a chore (and trust me, wheeled suitcases are not much help on cobblestones like these!)
We had a lovely apartment, the breakfast is fabulous, and staying in the old town is well worth the money. The views from the terrace are stunning, though an umbrella or two might provide some much needed shade.
On the downside, our satellite TV wasn't working, neither was the AC in the bedroom. Not a big thing, but we were staying here during the Germany - Argentina final (I am of German descent), and it wasn't so much the fact that the AC wasn't working, but the insistence of the owners that there was nothing wrong. By the time we left after our 2 night stay, just turning on the AC would trip the main breaker for the whole apartment.
By no means a horrible experience, but things could have certainly been better (see some of my other reviews of this trip)

We stayed two nights at the end of April and absolutely loved everything about this place, the position, the double room we enjoyed, the wonderful bed, all the little details and the care from our hosts. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Room Tip: We had the double downstairs and it was beautiful - suspect they all are great.

Traditional, family hotel! My very first impression was very good and got better and better through the days we stayed! Very good and delicious breakfast either in our bedroom or in the front balcony of the hotel with the stunning view! Super spacious luxurious rooms, carefully and tastefully decorated with big bathrooms and comfy beds! Conveniently placed under the main road combines tranquility and easy access to the center of the village! Overall i would recommend it 100%!!

P.S. Special thanks to mr. Ardamis, his wife and the kind lady that takes care of the rooms! Great people always happy to help and so so hospitable!

Room Tip: Room number 20 is an excellent choice!!

We stayed for 2 days at Ardamis hotel, and our experience was perfect. From hospitality and facilities, up to the value for money, everything was excellent. We definately suggest it, especially for couples that wish to spend time together in an atmosphere so unique as that of Monemvasia.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Traditional Guesthouse Ardamis is housed in the most significant building of the Monemvasia castle, whose history goes many centuries back. It was the governor's house during the Venetian rule and a residency during the Ottoman rule, while two Byzantine emperors have also been welcomed there. The building was renovated with respect, without absolutely any alteration of the areas, keeping its particular architectural elements intact, thus highlighting its beauty and history, while at the same time offering all modern luxuries. When the renovation started a Byzantine coin was found in the ruins dated back to 711 A.D. which is now exhibited in the Numismatic Museum of Athens and is unique in its kind. Some of the guest house special elements are the unique Castle tower, 14 meters high with seven windows, an 800 years old marble well, a true copy whereof is exhibited in the Museum of Istanbul and a picture whereof is exhibited in the Castle Museum, and of course the guest house 100 m2 balcony right above the sea which many Greek and foreign magazines and visitors have called . Currently the guest house is an amazing complex of rooms, suites and apartments joining the history with the living present of Monemvasia. Ardamis Traditional Guest Houses is the ideal destination for honeymoon. Quality never suffers a crisis; this is our firm belief which we prove everyday to all our clients. We shall continue to offer state-of-art services so that you may enjoy the comfort, the amenities and the ambience of Ardamis guest houses. Thousands of readers of various magazines have classified us as the best guest house in Greece, for three consecutive times; we are awarded for our efforts but also committed to constantly improve the quality of our services, even in difficult periods as this. In our website you will find various press releases, and awards.
