The location couldn't be better and I didn't even mind that we had to stay in a building down the street from the main hotel in order to get a room with a bathroom. The decor is cheap and pretty shabby looking: stains on the carpet, and dorm like Ikea furniture. No phone or TV, but that's fine. I did however strongly object to the state of the bathroom. At first it looked clean but then when I went to take a shower, things went down hill. There was an earwig in the shower so as I tried to spray it down the drain the portion of the shower hardwear that holds up the shower head fell down and I couldn't get it back so I had to spend the rest of my shower holding the shower head. Then I noticed the bottom of the shower curtain. It was filthy! The description of this building states that it is furnished in keeping with the Admiral's "aesthetic lifestyle." I was unaware that "aesthetic" means "filthy college student." I would be fine with the place if it wasn't so ridiculously over-priced, but as it is I feel cheated.

My little American family of three, stayed a few days at this hotel to explored Skagen, Denmark. We stayed in the section called "Admuralgaarden", it's just steps down the road from the main hotel. Our room was a suite with 2 bedrooms & private bathroom with shower. It was nice & bright with big windows, and the linens were clean & fresh, with a very spacious living room area. Unfortunately, I need to mention that the bathroom had a very bad smell of urine that wouldn't go away, but it looked nice & clean. The price for our room was reasonable (for a suite) at $250 USD. It was just steps from the Skagen's white sand & blue sea. This hotel is also walking distance to a very nice & large Art Museum.

A yummy breakfast was served each morning, in the morning room of the main hotel and was included with our room. Plenty of good things to eat and we appreciated this perk!

We invited our friends to meet us for dinner here at Brondum's Hotel Restaurant. We were 6 adults, one small child, that ate dinner here. The service was excellent, the food very tasty. We shared 2 bottles of wine between us and each ate an entrée. Our final check for this one meal was $800 USD. Yikes!!! Kinda shocking to me, as this is no "Ithaa, Maldives" !!! Seemed over priced to me, but I'm American where eating out is a lot cheaper (so maybe this is just me).

Overall we would go back to this hotel, but probably skip the hotel's restaurant, but only because of price. The other nights we ate dinner at Jacobs Cafe in the Village which was casual, cheaper & not too bad.

Brøndums Hotel and Admiralgaarden (the last being the place where you often actually get a room) has all the charm and historic atmosphere you could wish for - and if you are all for that, the place is surely worthwhile a visit. However, be prepared to pay standard rates for a run down hotel with little heating in the rooms and absolutely no luxury what so ever. Beutiful but old and simple - like a hostel more than a hotel. The breaksfast at the hotel is however well prioritized and delicious with homemade jam, great tees and purely produce of high standard. Would actually warmly recommend the hotel it if it was not for the price compared to the room standard, especially the fact that the heating did not work. Who would mint simple rooms if the price is right.... but this is unfortunately overpriced though that also may be down to the fact that these places are expensive (especially in Denmark) and difficult to maintain.

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms are better at the Brøndum Hotel itself and not the nearby Admiralgaarden. Worthwhile...

Stayed one night and discovered that the booking was in another house called the admiral house about 100 m away. The rooms were horrible, run down, dirty and really disappointing. We had lunch in the restaurant wich was nice and breakfast was ok. The main building is really charming so avoid to stay in the admiral house. In total; too expensive for what you get

Brøndums Hotel likes to compare itself with Hotel d'Angleterre in Copenhagen in old-fashioned charm and ambiance. Fat chance! On a Friday afternoon two of us visited the restaurant for lunch. The food was good and plenty, though in no way exceptional, but vastly overpriced, and it did in some ways make up for the inconvenience of being seated next to a dining room with two large parties, including many young and loud children. Worse was a bigger party in the garden which took almost all the attention away from regular restaurant guests. The restaurant was clearly understaffed to accommodate the guests and basic service suffered tremendously to the point of used tables not being cleared and cleaned and waiters being rude and snapping back at guests' requests for a menu card. The restaurant clearly needs more and better staff, including a firm and hands-on manager.

Our group of two couples arrived in Skagen in late October with no reservations. We went to Brondums on the recommendation of a colleague. We wanted to experience a classical Danish hotel. I spoke with the very pleasant woman at the desk and determined that the more picturesque rooms were those in the main hotel, including a shared bathroom at the end of the hall. We found this no problem. We stayed for one night.
We all found the rooms to be excellent, including the old uneven plank floors, the fixtures, the soft bed with comforter, everything. The bathroom was clean and no problem to share, though I don't know how full the hotel was.
For dinner, two of us chose the 5 course meal, which was highly recommended. The cuisine was predominantly French, but used local foods. Each morsel of food was worth shutting the eyes to taste fully. Everything was prepared and served to perfection. Dinner took two and a half hours. The other two meals were also excellent.
Breakfast was included and consisted of a choice of a wide variety of traditional Danish cheeses, breads, smoked fish, as well as eggs, yogurt etc.
All in all, we were very pleased with the whole experience and it was a highlight, although a relatively expensive one, of our trip to Denmark. Cost: 253 Euro per couple, not including dinner. 25% of the cost in Denmark, is tax.

Room Tip: We were glad we chose the rooms in the old hotel, despite the shared bathroom.
