“Beautiful cave!!”
Reviewed June 21, 2014

This cave is smaller than others in Slovenia but it's more dynamic. There are lots of stairs but always with a beautiful scenary! Before and after the cave you have a small walks in a calcareous environments that are just stunning! There is a huge doline that you can see coming out from the cave.

Bring a pair of walking shoes!

“The place should visit”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

Yesterday we took a day trip to visit the cave.

It was 1 and 1/2 hour train trip and 10 minutes bus to the cave.
Because it was Sunday, you could buy discount round trip train ticket with free bus to the cave .

I had visited many caves around the world. It was the best so far because the view of the river run through the bottom of the cave and the phenominon of the canyon made you feel so little in front of the nature. You cannot get it by the picture, only by personal experience.

Worth 100% of the trip.

One thing needed to mention. According to the website of the cave and train station information desk, there is a bus pick up back to train station for the last direct train back to Ljubljana. However, when we checked with the information desk to see where was bus stop, the information desk said there would not have bus run in the weekend only weekday. It made everyone panic. Luckily, the bus showed up at the same time. For your information, the information desk gave out the wrong information according to the old off season posting. When the summer season starts, there are bus run in the weekend. Before you go, check the cave website and train station information desk to make sure the bus schedule between train station and the cave.

“Awesome caves but no photos!”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

The most impressive caves I've seen. I didn't go to Postojna Caves so I can't compare with those. I'm taking off one point because of the no photos policy. I'm sure it is because people would be taking there time and potentially tripping but are opportunities near the end (while still fully in the cave) where photos would be just fine--no excuses.

“Fabulous tour of Skocjan Caves”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

I have now toured both Skocjan and Postojnska caves and i prefer Skocjan.
yes, it was a more strenuous trek - but far more exciting since the river flows through the cave giving you an excited feeling. the path was well lit and safe as we toured.
our english speaking tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly.
our group was about 25 people of all ages and everyone seemed to keep up
quite well. after all the steps in dubrovnik and paths at Plitvice national park, this was not that
difficult. also, less crowded and touristy than Postojnska.
