We stayed at the Gostilna Mesnica Malovec for one night while visiting the Skocjanske jame caves. Right now, they only offer a few rooms at an unbelievable price of 40 euros per night (2 people, double room including breakfast) but we were told that they are building a larger hotel. It didn't matter to us as the room was clean, spacious and fit our needs perfectly. The hotel is right next next to a restaurant and butcher, all of which are owned by the same people. Although the town is extremely small and offers little in the way of dining or entertainment (except for some nearby casinos), we were fortunate because the restaurant attached to the hotel is fantastic. We ate dinner there for about 35 euros. They offer excellent meats (beef, veal, horse), soups, cheeses, and other typical dishes. The staff speaks Slovenian, Italian, and English which was very nice. Breakfast, although free, was limited to bread with jam, nutella, chesse and meat spreads, but it was enough to at least get your stomach full. Highly recommend this hotel!
