The statue itself tells about the common history that Estonia and Sweden have. The scenery that you see behind the statue was the greatest I saw on my trip in Estonia: there is a grand view to the river of which both sides there are castles, Narva and Ivangorod. You should start the Narva River Promenade walk from here. Come here in autumn.

The monument of the Swedish lion is located on a hill where there is an observation deck with beautiful views of both castles

It’s a majestic and beautiful monument. It was a gift from Sweden to Narva and commemorates the success of Karl XII in 1700. It was destroyed in the second world war but re-inaugurated in 2000 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the battle. It’s also a good place to view the Hermann and Ivangorod castles too. A must see in Narva.

Nice landmark from the Swedish time of Narva. The place gives good view of The Narva Castle and also Ivangorod at Russian side.
If you come by car, good parking here and nice walk to the castle.
