Stunning architecture of fortifications as East meets West. The Narva Castle was built in the 14th Century to guard the Narva River and has its counterpart (although much bigger ) on the Russian side. The virtual border between the two countries lies in the mid-stream. Fascinating location to watch people and traffic queuing / passing along Peterburi tn. and its bridge. In 1945 the Castle was in ruins but there has been an extensive restoration programme of the main tower and surrounds so that by July 2019 the 8 Floor Tower will house a permanent interactive exhibition along with other temporary ones. Open today, but until then, only with guided tour if you want to enter the Tower. The grounds are free to access with lovely views from the courtyard across to Narva, here also you will find Restaurant Rondeel. This is a must when in Narva. Enjoy.
