“Excellent dinner and nice atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

We had dinner at Vincents after reading the good reviews on tripadvisor, and we were not disappointed. We were seated in a smaller room with just 4 tables, and we were the only guests in the room for most of the evening. The main room was more crowded, so this arrangement was perfect for us.

We had a 3 course dinner and we found the food and the presentation to be excellent. Of the three courses we found the dessert to be the weakest link, but still very good.

Service was also excellent, and our waiter Artus was perfect.

The price is definitely high, but we felt it was worth our experience. We will be back.

“A restaurant with ambitions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Don't be fooled by the menu, go with the tasting menu. You will not be dissapointed. The first two starters (from a total dish count of six, not counting "hidden" dishes) were Michelin star level for me. The other dishes, though very good, did not quite have the refinement that would earn Vincents a star.

You will love the drama, service and presentations that go into each dish. You will leave, entertained and full for a very reasonable amount of money.

If you are in Riga. You have to try Vincents!

“The Theater Was Too Much”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

The value proposition being conveyed to the clientele here is, "We are the most sophisticated restaurant in Riga." Vincent's may be the most sophisticated restaurant in Riga. Certainly, it is the most expensive that I encountered after two weeks of going downTrip Advisor's list of the best restaurants.

The plating is pretty, the food is well prepared, the wine list is interesting, but not up to the intentions of the restaurant, to the best in Riga.

When I spend $300 for two people, however, I would like a little privacy, quiet, and discretion. Instead, at Vincent's you get a steady stream of intrusions as part of th splay. There is an Act 1, an Act 2 and an Act 3. The only thing missing was the organ grinder.

They insisted upon a presentation of meat on a tray when we did not want meat on a tray; the chef in a "entrada triumphal" to drop a few drops of "25 year old balsamic vinegar" on our appetizer, a Disney World show of making a lollipop table side with dry ice and foam, two people to decant a bottle of wine with a candle and a glove that did not need to be decanted, and finally, when a table of 4 sat next to us we had to relive it..all of the obnoxious intrusions.

I know they mean well, and they were nice, but at the end of the evening I decided to ask them to serve me in the kitchen so that we could finish our chat.

“The only fine dining in Riga”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Unfortunately there is nothing in Riga that can really compete with Vincents in terms of fine dining. Yes evrything is old style there and maybe some menu items could improve, but in terms of food and service you cant really complain. Yes it is expensive and bla bla, but it is still the best. A sad thing though is that they accepted our reservation one day before, which was impossible a while ago...

“High quality for a high price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2012

Our meal began rather oddly by being asked to wait in a room adorned with pictures of chef Vincent with various celebrities, opera singers, members of the English royal family, etc...Presumably, this was done to prepare our table and the first course of caviar before we sat down for a 7-course tasting menu. Once we were seated, there was a good pace to each of the different courses and everyone one was a carefully and thoughtfully crafted taste sensation. The service we received was trying very hard but still seemed a little insecure about most things (maybe due to the language??), with the exception of the Sommelier, who was first class. For Riga, this place must be ridiculously expensive. We were impressed to see what an engaged and visible presence chef Vincent is at his restaurant, even today after so many years. He personally served one of the more tongue-in-cheek dishes to our table: a scrumptious tuna prepared in a sealed can, delivered in a crumpled brown paper bag. It´s a good gag and you only need to experience it once. We appreciated the humor and creativity.
