Description: While retaining the character and soul of this long standing institution of the Riga culinary scene, the new Executive Chef, Jānis Zvirbulis, proudly presents a reimagined Restaurant Bergs.... Bold culinary creations inspired by Europe's classic dining traditions will delight guests in a tastefully redone setting. This season, the menu is accented with seasonal mushrooms and Jānis especially recommends the wild Latvian venison Wellington. Also enjoy wild seasonal fish and sea food- scallops, snow crab, lobsters, sea urchins- farm grown meat, locally harvested vegetables and Etienne Boissy cheese... Dinner accompanied by live piano music on Fridays and Saturdays will set you in a harmonious state of mind.

Excellent restaurant with a wide variety of local fish, game and produce on the menu. Even served fresh birch juice with local berries as an amuse bouche. Very attentive friendly and helpful service.

If you ever put absolute-five star rating to any restaurant in Riga, you've never been to Bergs.
It is expensive indeed, but the quality of service and the kitchen makes it one of the best restaurants in the area.

I originally read about this place and their good value lunch menus for workdays, but eventually only found myself visiting on saturday. Regardless, took a 3 course lunch, and got served the kitchens greetings. The service was really friendly, and the dishes they served we're simply excellent! Very good presentation on plate, complemented with inventive use of ingredients.

One of the things that really left me with a positively charged feeling, is that I originally ordered some figs on port wine as dessert, but few minutes after my order, the waiter came back, and apologized that the quality of the figs they got for today is not up to par with their standards, and I was kindly asked to order something else from the menu. This, in my opinion, shows respectful attitude towards quality. Ended up having some chocolate ravioli with fruit. Which was also very good.

Although it certainly is a bit more expensive than many of the places in Riga, this is one of the places I would recommend to anyone interested in food.
