We spent 4 nights in this hotel. The room is small but the bathroom is well designed and very comfortable.Service was perfect. The hotel is well placed a few minutes walk to old Riga and near the market. We were very impressed with the restaurant serving a variety of meals. It was so good and relatively cheap that we did not look for another restaurant despite the huge chice in Riga.Breakfast was rich in variety but poor in quality.

Comfortable, clean rooms with all basic comfort. Open buffet breakfast for a good start to the day. 10 mins walking distance from the center. Definitely great value for money. The only minus is that they ask for your credit card number during check-in!

Nice hotel with breakfast buffet included. At just 10min walking distance from the old town and 5min from the central market. Located at a very quiet area of Riga in front of a wooded church
Our room was one of the smallest ones, although enough for 2 persons staying just for a weekend.

Stayed here for a week while at Riga . The Hotel is near the central market and a short walk to the Old town.. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful .. Breakfast was included but the Juices provided were very diluted.

I was there three times spread over two weeks.

This place ticks most of the boxes.
- It is a few minutes walk from where the 22 bus comes in every 30 minutes. The stop is "Centrāltirgus" (a market) one after "Stockmann". Walk straight on two blocks and then right to the massive wooden church, or right after one block (past Stalin's tower) and then left to the church.
- The rooms operate using key-cards. In one of the rooms it took me several minutes to gain access each time, changing cards made no difference. Some neighbouring rooms had the same problem, rooms on other floors did not.
- All (?) rooms have a network cable connection and WLAN. The cable connection did not work in one of the rooms, and then it turned out that the WLAN wanted me do download some "special software" to join their wonderful network. No.
- The restaurant offers good food, although the portions are rather small. Plan on needing a starter. The place serves up until 22:00 (I think) but the staff are obviously exhausted by then. There are a couple of restaurants 5 minutes away and the Old City a further 5 minutes on if you don't want hotel food.
- Rugby Union experience is useful for the breakfast scrum. We dived in, grabbed some food and drink and then ran to the outside tables. Wasps can be a problem there. Breakfast starts at 07:00 (weekdays) and 08:00 (weekends), I think it is available up until 12:00.

Room Tip: The rooms with the best views are south facing, a bit louder and offer the houses opposite a view in...

The hanza hotel was a real bargain. Clean, welcoming and fairly central. To be honest it's not in the nicest part of town (AltHough I quite liked the imposing Soviet empire state building down the road) but it's a short walk to the Old Town and the value makes it a definite find.
I would recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Riga on a budget!

I stayed at Hanza Hotel for a night during my visit to Riga. Apparently the hotel was fully booked as there were no spare rooms when I arrived in the morning before the check-in time. The staff was very friendly and agreed to keep my luggage until the actual check-in.

My double room was modern, spacious, luminous and well-furnished. The bathroom was small but spotless. The hotel offered free WiFi. At the reception I was given a discount coupon valid for an adjacent pub. In the morning, complimentary buffet breakfast was served in a pleasant restaurant located on the hotel ground floor. The rich and tasty breakfast included omelet with bacon, sausages, different sorts of cheese and ham, cereals, cakes, croissants, butter, jam, milk, juices, coffee and tea.

The definite advantage for me was the hotel's location. Bus stop with public transport going to the Riga International Airport is only a 5-7 mins walk from the hotel which was very handy as I had to fly out the next morning. Moreover, it is located close to the train station and coach station where Eurolines bus calls at. The Riga Old Town with main sights is not far either. The Hanza Hotel is just few hundred meters away from Stockman shopping mall where you can find restaurants and cinema.

Besides the mentioned, the Hanza hotel offers an excellent value for money and I totally recommend it!
