“Nice budget hotel near old town...”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We stayed here summer 2012 with my wife. Take the airport bus to central station and then another bus that goes along Marijos Ilea to arrive. Very reasonable prices compared to old town hotels. Nice, spotless rooms and pretty large. Hotel situated around a nice courtyard. Bid supermarket nearby. Breakfast at a bakery called Martina Bekereja ( a chain bakery shop) just across the street. They give out vouchers which are quiet enough to fill you up for breakfast. A nice and easy walk to old Riga ( 15 min). There is a trolley option for those who do not want to walk. A couple of cafes and bars in this street. Overall, nice and clean B&B close to old Riga. I would stay here again if I ever went back to Riga.

We stayed here for the weekend and have to say it was pretty good.
Location is very good (even though is not too close to old town is quite central anyway), our room was definitely spacious and well fitted, girls at the reception are taking care of your needs (if you have one eventually) and the place is clean. Only black spot is the temperature, it could have been honestly few degrees warmer in the room as outside it's already cold (only 5 this saturday) and when we came back we felt kind of cold in the room.
Guess that for this kind of price it would be rather diffcult to find better anyway.

Room Tip: Our room was nr 30 so if you are ready to make some stairs (last floor with no elevator) go for it!

I stayed in a medium-sized apartment while in Riga on business. It was a treat to have an entire spacious furnished apartment (bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom), and even a shared patio, for less than a hotel room in the Old Town. My apartment was in the back building and I heard no street noises at all. The apartment was well maintained; when I reported a problem with a clogged shower drain one morning, it was fixed by that evening. Towels were changed daily and the sheets were changed once a week. The staff was friendly and competent. After I returned home I needed an itemized receipt for my stay. I emailed them and they sent the receipt within a day.

This is a very convenient area, with a multilevel shopping center on the corner. The shopping center has a grocery store and cellphone store, where I bought a SIM card to call home. There is a tram stop on the corner as well, but it was only 15 or 20 minutes to walk to the Old Town. The area is very clean, with someone sweeping up trash and leaves on the street every morning except Sunday. It seems very safe in the evenings, with people sitting at outdoor cafes and going to and from the shopping center. Entry into the compound is with a security code. When you first arrive you can buzz the office, and they will let you in.

They provide coupons for breakfast, but I only used the coupon once at the nearby restaurant, for a great omelette on my first day in Riga. The rest of the time I made my own breakfast in the little kitchen, which had everything needed. I did my own laundry, but could have asked that they wash and dry my clothes instead. Wifi was not always available, but they did not charge me for it. There is free wifi at the bakery across the street and at the Lido's a block away.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room if you have problems climbing steps.

Having had a bad, and more expensive, experience with accommodation in Jurmala, this was perfect for us. Even though our rooms were on the street side, the double-glazing effectively blocked out any traffic noise. No. 1 tram stop almost immediately outside, so easy access to the centre. Rooms 1 A and B shared a common door, so perfect for us to have the double room and our daughter to have her adjoining room. Each room equipped with a fridge, crockery, cutlery, salt, pepper, sugar and a range of herbal teas. Best, firm beds we've ever had in any holiday accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Riga B&B created a positive impression right at the start due to its neatness (both inside and out), the clean and smart interior (probably renovated recently) and a sense of security (in its own secured compound). Although not in the old city, the inn is located on Gertrudes St which is only a relaxed fifteen minutes walk from there. One may also avail of the trams (No 6, 11 or 3) or buses that are literally steps away.

The apartments are well appointed with all the essential accessories (kitchen and bathroom) in good condition- the towels are replaced daily. Breakfast is provided in a café nearby (set menu), and although the choice is small it is adequate for a start to the day. Simple meals may be cooked in the kitchenette provided. There are plenty of restaurants around and the Rimi supermarket is just across the road. Both check-in and check-out were effortless and the staff always willing to please. We would consider staying with Riga B&B if in Riga again.

Room Tip: If possible, get an apartment in the two blocks at the back as they get no street noise at all.

I booked a single room at Hotel B & B Riga. The buildings are on a courtyard off the street and are over 100 years old, yet the room was Euro-modern and comfortable. The price was very reasonable. Larger rooms/apartments have cooking facilities, but mine only had a small refrigerator and electric kettle. Breakfast was across the street at a pastry shop. Internet access was an additional 3 euros a day and was very fast. There is a market just up the street, and bus and trolley lines to just about everywhere within a short walk. This is a great location for exploring Riga without having to be right in Old Town or the city center.

The B&B Riga is a great accomodation for couples or small groups of friends who want to spend a few days in the beautiful city of Riga.

Rooms are comfortable, very clean, and newly refurbished. More than just a bed to spend a night, you will also have the possibility to cook simple food there thanks to some equipment.

Every morning, no need to worry about your breakfast. Just enjoy some nice typical sweet and salty pastries in the bakery just in front the hotel.

The personnel is very friendly and helpful, and speakd perfectly well English.

The B&B Riga is easy to find, and is less than 10 minutes far from the center.

Only one small negative point: some rooms have windows giving straight in a quite busy street with tram passing there too. It can therefore be quite nosy, especially in summer if you have to let your window opened for some fresh air.
