Although it is only a street, but what street it is! Other reviews say it all: gorgeous buildings stand tightly together and make up what is widely considered the best street in Riga. Don't be lazy to look up and make out the details of the houses - they never fail to impress.

What a great street. Very short but incredible. Almost all buildings are different and catch your attention. I hope they can restore the whole street! It´s very charming and you should definitely go and have dinner there!

The buildings on this street offer an extraordinarily complete and diverse range of art nouveau architecture. Some are restored, some sadly crumbling but they are exquisite. Take time to look carefully at every detail. Visit the Art Nouveau museum housed in one of the buildings to see an art nouveau apartment complete with furnishings and décor. The museum also shows an informative film about the many and varied art nouveau buildings in Riga and learn about the different styles of architecture.

The Art Nouveau style is most prevalent in this area. I used my guidebook which listed which streets to see and we were not disappointed. Some of the streets it listed besides Alberta iela was Strelnieku iela, Elizabetes iela, Teatra iela, Skunu iela, and Smilsu iela. We had a great time walking up and down the streets looking at all the Jugend style buildings. The neighborhoods are nice and quiet and there are some small shops and bakeries on some of the streets.
GREAT photo ops !!!!!

It is located in quiet center of Riga. Close to Old Town. It has good architecture and very cosy museum. It gives a good impression about life in Riga at that time. There is an audioguide (in that museum), very friendly staff, and You could get fun, making some photoes into this museum and try on hats on entrance hall.
It is worthwhile to attend at the Riga's city festival, what is organized at first weekend in August. Then this street becomes a place for meeting for many other peoples, but local people are walking to this street, are making many performances and you could take part in its...You could get very interesting an old fashion photoes , could visited a few salons, taste latvian food and beer. And there are also many charcters from these old times- newspaper boys, policeman-''gorodovoj'', attractive janitor, fireman brass band, townsfolk,,, Mr. Pliekshens and his wife-the best architect of that time in Riga, he is the architetc of many buildings on that street and in other places in Riga, Blaumanis-very popular Latvian writer. By the way he was living on the third floor at the building where is the Art Nouveau museum, and his apartmnent is similar like that. It is friendly place for children too- they could take part in many masterclasses-making pictures, painting ceramic tiles, making jewelry for themselves makinfg flower bouquets at the florist offices...Many many things to do.And if You want to have dinner or lunch - there are good places for that. I recommend Riviera, Flying frog, and if you want something unusual and non typical for mostly people from Europe-you could go to Russian tractier. Don't miss to visit the surroundings-Elizabeth street, Dzirnavu street, Alunana street, Antonias street- watch up for decorations and details on the facades of that buildings, there are no two identical on its.Welcome to Riga!
