“Riga Dome Cathedral is a Must-See”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The Dome still is one of the biggest churches in the Baltics, and is certainly not the prettiest, inside or out, but it is the Latvian Archbishop’s cathedral. The Riga Dome was the Livonian Order’s central cathedral until the disintegration of the Order in 1561. In the medieval period, the Riga Dome Cathedral was the largest and one of the oldest sacred buildings in Latvia and the entire Baltic Region. Inside, the ornate pulpit is amazing, and photos of it will include the best stained glass in the church. A surprising find is the interior courtyard, whose covered walkway is chock full of medieval cannons, mortars, and other armament.

“Great especially with the organ concert”
Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

Don't miss this wonderful church, especially at noon where almost everyday an organ concert is given, during around 20-30 minutes; entrance fee 5 LAV. Worthwile especially as you also have to pay an entrance fee if you wouldn't visit the concert (then it's 2 LAV), so take a chance to enjoy the concert with the great acoustic of the church hall. We recommend as well to visit the nice inner courtyard at the right side after you enter the main hall.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Walking around in the beautiful city centre you ought to visit the cathedral. Having seen a number of cathedrals this one is as such not anything special, but still worth a visit. Remarkable it is, that the building appears very wide. In the back you find a yard.
Access to the cathedral is from the back (tower end).

“Take in the organ concerts”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

This cathedral is deceptive - quite plain and seemingly moderate on the outside but cavernous and ornate on the inside. But the real treasure is its wonderful pipe organ. We took in the 5 Lats noon concert and were lucky enough to see the 7 pm concert (best seats for 10 Lats) as well. The low notes are simply bone-shattering and the fugues quite contemplative. There was a full choir as well. Get along to this treat but do so with a concert.

“Desolated cathedral”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Domsky Cathedral is Riga's main church, but it has a very bad times. Entrance is expensively paid, but you have nothing to see, there is refurbishment, organ is disassembled, so it is nothing to do there now. Don't waste you time and money.
