This hotel is a little wide of the action, but it does make up for it with spacious airy rooms and neutral decor. One thing they could fix is the entrance, which is hard if you are doing a bag drag, as there are quite a few steep steps. The hotel itself does not ooze any Olde Worlde charm, it's more suited to those wanting mod cons, ie internet, TV, air con etc.
You can walk into the city or take the number 3 bus and it's certainly fine for sight seeing.

Room Tip: The higher levels are probably a bit more pleasant, but windows appear double glazed so not much noi...

Hotel TIA is located a little ways outside of the centre of Riga but going there is as easy as taking a minibus that stops a few feet from the hotel for 1 euro. You could opt for walking there, in the Spring and Summertime Riga has gorgeous weather and the architecture alone is worth the walk. At times it feels positively Mediterranean with lush green parks and a bustling night life. The hotel is great value for money (spend about 50 euros a night for a good double room), provides breakfast, lunch and dinner for a small added fee and has a 24-hour reception. We didn't try the roomservice but it all looked very appetizing as well. One of the great pro's of this hotel is their service, calling you up if you want your room cleaned and being overall accommodating to guests' needs. The double bed was very comfy and for a nice change of pace actually fit all 1,95m of me. The room included a flat screen tv that seemed to freely provide a lot of channels you pay for in other hotels (including a sexy one). Overall, I've had way worse experiences in Riga hotels and the grievances I've held onto since where all vanquished here. It's peaceful and has a relaxed atmosphere. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are quiet, if travelling as a couple double beds are way more comfortable over two sing...

Good value room, breakfast was very nice, and staff friendly and helpful. When going for breakfast no one from the staff greets you which is a bit weird, since normally it is at least - good morning, but alright, breakfast was good. Not far from the city centre, but still some walk.

I didn't really like this hotel though it was good value. Its on a busy main road and looks more like an office block. Its not too far from the centre and I often walked rather than take a tram.

The breakfasts were unexceptional and the rooms barely adequate but clean and comfortable enough I suppose.

My big complaint was that I was freezing during my 3 nights there. The weather was unseasonable cold for mid September but the hotel refused to put on the heating despite minus temperatures during the night. The public parts were not too bad but the bedrooms were extremely cold. I would not go back there.

The staff were not at all friendly or helpful.

We spend some very relaxing nights in Tia Hotel. the rooms were oke. Clean not huge but big enougd. The beds were oke not too soft not too hard. All the lights ( bedlights aswell) functioned. The cleaner left a note that she cleaned the room and if there was any inconvenience i could get in touch with her! very professional. The staff at the reception was kind and helpfull. Their English was excellent. They were very willing in explaning all kinds of things about Riga ( which bus to take, advice about restaurants etc) the hotel had a delicious restaurant. Not too much to choose from but just enough .The kitchen closes at 2100 That was bit too early for us. The breakfast is in the same room as the restaurant. very good and varied breakfastbuffet. Fresh fruit!! The location is oke. A little walk to the town. But if you are very lazy you can take the bus. The hotel is located on a busy sreet. You might have some streetnoise dujring the eveninghours. In the night it is quiet.

My heart sank when I arrived at this hotel - it's not very inviting from the outside and it's a fair walk into Riga. However, once I got used to the awful yellow/mustard paintwork in my room, it wasn't too bad. A reasonable sized bedroom and very clean. The bathroom was tiny though and barely room to step into the shower as the toilet was in the way!
Breakfast was good - especially the pancakes :) The lifts were scary - quite old and shaky. Walk into Riga is about 25 minutes but there are some good restaurants quite nearby once you find them. Good value for money but very basic - I would spend more next time and be nearer to the centre.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building are quieter.
