“Good location but bad service”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

The service in all respects were a big disappointment.

First, the lady at the front desk was not helpful at all with suggesting sights, restaurants and directions. She spoke english good enough however had a bad attitude and did not want to be helpful.

Second, daily maid service would enter the room without warning or knocking. They would simply enter at any time as if it were their own room.

Third, the internet was out of service half of my stay and they made no apologies about this.

Last, upon my checkout they advised me that my rate is going up because they thought I had a guest in my room (I did not). They refused to budge on this and said that housekeeping said I was using too many towels. I said that was rediculous and if I were to pay for using too many towels then I should get a refund for the internet being down and for not eating the breakfast that came with the room. They refused.

I would NOT recommend this hotel based on the terrible customer service. I am sure there are better places then this.

We had a very large room in a sidebuilding. No elevator. The floor and bathroom was a little bit worn, but ok. Perfect location in the old town. St. Peter's church on one side and a big shopping center on the other side. We needed a reasonable priced room in the city centre, and Konventa Seta was perfect for us. Good service and good brakfast buffet, compared to the rest of Easter Europe.

Good value and a great location. I could not access the free wireless from our room but could get on in the bar. Our room was adequate and roomy. The lobby elevator was out of order for the entire 9 days of our stay which posed a problem for anyone with a disability as there was no alternative to climbing a short flight of stairs to access the service elevator.
The breakfast was quite good with a wonderful variety. The staff was very nice. A good bargain choice in the heart of old Riga.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms are more quiet but in the summer and particularly during Ligo, you should expect som...

I stayed here for three nights. (Building 5) I chose it mostly for the location. It's in the heart of Old Town, within a walkable distance to pretty much everything, including the main bus terminal drop off, which was important for me.
I can't say I'm all that impressed with the room I had though. It was nice enough and clean, which is great. It even had a little mini-kitchenette with a stove (a microwave would have been better) and fridge. However, there was no air conditioning, which makes it a little difficult to sleep. I needed to keep the windows/curtains open so I could try to get some air. Unfortunately that meant I had to deal with the noise from outside (with the windows open) and the fact that during the summer it's still light till like 11pm and gets light again between 4-5am... so hard to sleep.
Apart from that, the room itself could use a bit of updating. the curtains didn't fit the width of the windows very well in my room leaving lots of light coming in and along with the furnishings and linens just looked every old and outdated. The lighting was horrible, just a few little lamps for the huge room with no overhead lighting except in the kitchenette area and restroom (even that not very bright). (no elevator, which is understandable in an old building.)
Overall if you're looking for a great location at a reasonable price this is a good choice. If you want comfort and luxury this is not the right fit. I do think with some very modest updates and redecoration they could easily update the rooms and make them a lot nicer for their guests.

Room Tip: Rooms are in various buildings so will not necessarily look like what's pictured.

We had a nice large room. Not so much view because of narrow yards. Good breakfast. Very good value for the price.
