I walked and walked and walked trying to find this museum. No signs anywhere. I never did find it and I am really disappointed. Really needs to do something to help tourists find it - its not on any of the tour maps, in hardly any of the guides, its website is not very helpful and people need to visit this.

museum, it was in the area that was pretty dilapidated. Museum was made carefully, wall that had all victims names was sad, so many names in it. House that was built in the museum yard, was interesting, upstairs especially.

It takes some effort to find the museum. Yes, it's in one of the warehouse buildings on your way from the open-closed giant marketplace. The photographs and the panels with names offer some information about what how Latvia's Jews lived before the war and what happened to them during the Holocaust. The museum is located in the former ghetto, and it is worth to take a walk in that area (most buildings exist till today).

The museum is very well conceived and gives a clear explanation of part of European history that is sometimes forgotten in western Europe and the US. I thought I would fly through and I stayed for a couple of hours.

This new museum has to be seen. Latvia didn't had such a monument till 10 years ago and it was a shame. Almost 90% of all Latvian Jews were murdered during WWII. Such a remembrance is mandatory.
