“Stylish hotel in the centre of Old Riga”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

I have just finished a 3 week bike tour of the Baltics and this hotel was by far the best place I stayed. It is a beautifully restored Art Nouveau building in a great location, our room was spacious and stylish, the restaurant was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. It was more expensive than most of the other places we stayed, but I think it was good value for what we got.

We had a query about a very high laundry charge after we had left and the hotel staff dealt with it promptly and kindly, organising a partial refund.

I would definitely come back here!

Stayed a few nights in a beautifully modernised Art Nouveau hotel in the centre of the old town. The hotel is maintained to superb modern standards with a/c, free wifi, deep baths and kitchenettes equipped with kettle, refrigerator, minibar (reasonable prices) etc. The hotel has managed to retain elements of the original structure and the rooms on the top floor (6th level) are duplex with a sitting area and kitchenette and the sleeping area above (not suitable for the disabled though).

Restaurant and service is outstanding. The cuisine is of a high standard and there is an extensive menu. The hotel is right in the centre of Riga and a short walk to everything of interest, except perhaps the remarkable art nouveau district, which I walked to but is 15-20 minutes walking. I received personal attention during my three visits. It is thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: I was given a duplex 'apartment' on my return visits that offer views across the city.

Modernised building with very fine rooms. We had a large superior room towards the courtyard, which was absolutely quiet. Beds were excellent. TV with a limited selection of programs was fine. Kitchenette was included, but we did not use it. Bathroom modern. Central location just behind the dome. Breakfast buffet corresponded to international standards. It was surprising (but encountered also in the other Scandinavian hotels) that there were no fresh berries offered for breakfast, while the markets were overflowing with blueberries, red currants and strawberries in this time of the year. The hotel also has a pretty good restaurant with an outside terrace open to a pedestrian zone. Very nice place to sit and watch people.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room towards the coutyard since these are very quiet. Front rooms could offer ni...

This hotel is lovely, very central and the perfect place to stay on a city break in Riga. The breakfast was one of the best we have enjoyed on a city break in Europe. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed for two nights as part of a wedding-of-friends- and city-trip. The hotel is furnished with great care and the design convinces up to the detail. The restaurant serves delicious food (not all of the staff know English very well), the bed is large and comfy, our room was large and well equipped as well (with a kitchenette that we didn't use though). Maybe a little bit noisy (not so thick walls/doors in all of the rooms?), and our bathroom was quite humid, but nice and clean otherwise. We did not find the time to test the spa, since the hotel is located in such a nice spot of the city, that it is the perfect starting point for exploring Riga's old town - and there is plenty to discover.

We booked a "Treat for Taste Buds" special offer from the Neiburg's website with 4 extra nights. Reservation process was perfect and all our demands (elevated floor, quite) were respected. The included Limousine Airport Service was assured by a Chauffeur waiting for us at the Airport Exit. A Mercedes Limousine took us to the Hotel. Reception at the Hotel was friendly and discrete. The first impression when you enter hotel is excellent: High quality materials and a good understatement taste. The appartment on the 6th floor was spacious with kitchenette and the bedroom and bathroom one stair up. Views on both sides (dome and St. Peter's Church). Much more room than we expected. All perfectly clean and well equipped. Lots of storage room and two flat Screen TVs as well as a DVD Player. Kitchenette with water Boiler, large fridge and mircrowave. Efficient air condition in the living room (important with the 35 degrees that we had outside!), less efficient on the upper floor. But this was not a Problem as opening the Windows on both sides in the evening brought lots of fresh air in for the night. Large bed, unfortunatly too hard for us both suffering from back Problems. We did not ask for a possibility to Change the matrace but I am pretty sure that if we had asked the very helpful staff would have done everything to find a softer replacement. A five course dinner was included in the package. As my wife cannot eat any carbohydrates, we already asked before our Arrival for a specially adapted menu for her. In table at a window was reserved for us and in fact we found a different menu Card for my wife on the table. Apparently my explaination of the carbohydrate Problem had not been understood completely (I must say that this happens all the time) as there were still quite a few things on the menu which she cannot eat. We explained that to the waiter who immediately called for the Chef de Service. We explained to her exactly what my wife can and can't eat and she understood perfectly well. Taking away the printed menu Card, she just said "Don't worry! You will get the perfect menu. We do not have the time to print it out but I can assure you that it will be a very nice surprise for you. To be honest, we were a bit worried but there was absoluty no reason: My wife was served a menu which was just perfect for her. She could eat everything that was on the plates. Service cannot be any better. I was served a traditional Latvian menu with a delicious eel as the main course. The Côte du Rhône which we ordered was excellent. Also the breakfast which is served in the Restaurant and on the terrace was very good. Bigger Hotels might have a larger choice in the breakfast menu but the products were excellent and tasty. The Hotel has a large Business Center with two Computer terminals which can be used free of Charge, good if you don't want to travel with your Laptop. There is a spa with Sauna and steam bath. Compared to Austrian Wellness Hotels that we know this spa was very small but clean. I tested the steam bath once which was nice. The Location of the Hotel in the old town, just next to the dome is simply perfect. All the main attractions of Riga are within Walking distance and it is good to come back to the Hotel at noon to have a Little rest in between. All in all: One of the best Hotels that we have ever staied in. The Price for the package was reasonable, to western Standards I would call it a bargain. Nothing to complain about during a 5 nights stay. We highly recommend the Hotel to all travellers who appreciate Quality, good taste and a personal touch!
