“Atmospheric and well set out.”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

You have to buzz in the door with a code, but once you do, you are in a beautiful authentic Art Nouveau interior. The staircase up into the rest of the building is worth popping inside for in its self! The staff are very helpful and friendly and dressed in period costume, which was fun. There are cards about the rooms in several languages but one of the guides gave us extra information and directed our attention to features we may have missed. We were given period hats to wear while we walked around - a bit unusual but amusing. I found the kitchen especially interesting with cookies on offer! The attendants really knew their stuff and could answer our questions and give interesting facts.
A thoroughly interesting little gem of a museum - not expensive to enter, either.

“Great but small.”

Really good exhibit all set out in the style of the period. Staff were friendly and informative. We spent about an hour and that was plenty to see it all.

“Not very impressing”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

Though I knew that it's only a flat, I still was quite disappointed. The museum didn't impress me. What was good about it - they had everything written in five languages, so you could read what's in every room. Maybe the times are too recent.

“Nice complement to see the inside after looking at all the facades”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

The Art Nouveau Museum is actually a small apartment beautifully renovated and decorated with authentic, period pieces. There are brief yet thorough information sheets in each room describing the room’s purpose and a list describing each piece in the room (available in numerous languages). There is a 10-minute video available for viewing which gives a good overview of Latvian Art Nouveau. The entry fee is €3,50 and if you want to take pictures add an extra €1,50.

“Few steps back to Belle Epoque”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

I live in Riga, Latvia. As in other old European towns there are many samples of architecture, some of which are really unique. Bildings, constracted in style of Art Nouveau (or Jugendstil) at the turn of XIX-XX centuries, have special place. Some of these buildings are heritage of UNESCO.

Museum of Art Nouveau was open at 2009 in building designed by Constantin Pekshen and constracted at 1903. Museum apartament is consists of ten habitable rooms. All spaces decorate with pieces of furniture, household items, paintings etc. date from 1890-1900s.

Revolving arch ladder in entrance hall is one of the picturesque in Europe.

Atmosphere of Museum carry over the visitors into long-forgotten times commonly refered to as Belle Epoque.
