“Surprise museum in Riga, Latvia”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

After wandering through the Art Nouveau district in Riga, Latvia, we happened upon a small building that was an beautiful art nouveau museum. The museum had restored a complete floor, furniture, accessories, costumes, window treatments and when you walked through, you felt as if you were in a time warp. The museum is at Alberta Street 12, built in 1903. It is well worth the small admission, especially after see all the art nouveu buildings and wondering what the inside slook like

“Just OK”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Seeing the facades of the buildings in this district is worth walking around here. Some are spectacular for their imaginative designs and executions. But I was not impressed with the 'museum', which was a house decorated in the artifacts of that era.

“Interesting, well-put together; but, small”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

The museum shows rooms furnished as they would have been in the late 1800's, with interesting art-nouveau wall treaments and furniture. The most exciting thig is looking up the circular staircase at the museum entrance (inside).

“beautiful period rooms!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Perhaps I'm biased because this is my favorite period of art and design, but these rooms were all beautifully restored and lovingly put together. It was interesting to see fully-restored Art Nouveau decor, even the kitchen was on display! They also have a quick 10 minute video that tells about the history of Art Nouveau in Riga - worth watching.

“Worth checking out”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The place is interesting, not amazing, but worth visiting. You get to step back in time. Don't forget to walk up the staircase. Also an interesting area to walk around.
