Description: "Salve" - a restaurant that represents Riga city cuisine There's no better way to express the uniqueness of the people, its habits and tastes than through national cuisine. Restaurant Salve offers a taste of traditional Latvian cuisine in an elegant city manner. Restaurant Salve, which is located in the historic Blue Guard House which is part of the complex of the House of Blackheads on the Town Hall Square - the heart of Old Riga - is the right place to look for exquisite cuisine and enjoy the specialties of the capital. We offer to appraise the elegant and at the same time cozy atmosphere of the restaurant with a fine Dutch style interior to all citizens of Riga and its guests. Internationally trained chefs and waiters guarantee exquisite food flavor and high service standards. In Latin, "Salve" means - "Welcome!" Which excellently reflects the essence of the restaurant, as each guest is gladly welcome there.

Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Food well above average and well-presented. Good value for money, can be recommended.

“Average, main course a bit disappointing and quite pricey”
Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

We ate inside as started to get cold in the evening and inside it's quite dingy, rather ex-soviet Union. I and my wife went for the latvian set menù at 18,99 lat (30€) and the beginning was encouraging: the herring dish was interesting, the peas and bacon nothing original but good. The beetroot soup presented cold was surprising and the mixed fruits sorbet real refreshing. Unfortunately, the real let down was the mani course. The fish was hard and had been cooked hours before, the pork sausage was worse then mediocre. My son had a steak which was rather rubbery. The service wasn't bad but our waiter rarely smiled. It's an ok place all together but for that price Riga has a lot more to offer.

“The Pork Knuckle is a Killer”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We saw the Trip Advisor reviews on this place and walked past a few times before we felt hungry enough to make a reservation for dinner. The food in Old Riga is generally excellent and in huge quantities so it's a bit hard to commot to a 'big dinner' and I so much wanted to try the pork knuckle. The very friendly waiter started us of on a tasting plate of various local delights which we washed down with some beers and the girls had the non-alcoholic mohijitos. Main courses were pork fillet with a creamy mushroom sauce (absolutely delicious) and, of course, the pork knuckle. The latter was an experience not to miss but you need a very large appretite and no starter plate!

“Simply Wonderful!”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

This restaurant was in close proximity to the hotel and on our last night we gave it a try. The service was very good and we placed our order quickly. Unfortunately the starter to share arrived and I realised that Dill was liberally used as a garnish and in the dish itself and unfortunately I cannot eat this. I explained this the waitress who immediately discussed this with the chef and he specially made me a main course dish without Dill. What marvellous service! The food was delicious and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

“Our server made our meal very special. Efficient!”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

This restaurant is in a great location. After visiting the Museum of Occupation we wandered over. The service was quick and efficient. Our server was very friendly. If you are looking for a quick but nice lunch so you can get on to the other sites, this is a perfect choice. We both had salads that were filling but light. Yumm!
