“Soviet era iron !”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

Aviation fan or not , if you have an hour to spare at Riga Airport , turn left out of the terminal and walk for 5 minutes and you are there. A selection of Soviet air power that is difficult to beat in the West. Forget the "scrapyard" image, this place deserves support , well worth the paltry entrance fee asked. I hope that the powers that be encourage this important historical reminder by sponsoring and encouraging the proprietor`s initiative.

“Open air Aviation Museum - resembles Boneyard”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

This is perfectly located next to terminal. You walk 2-5 min to the museum.
Aircraft are outside and in spring 2014 there was no inside exhibitions. It looked more like that museum are had been reduced, as lot of stuff were there mere like piled. Museum has large collection of Soviet era fighters and helicopters and is doing very important work preserving them for future generations.
Webpage is not state of the art, and there were discrepancies on opening hours in different sources. Best way is to walk there and ring the doorbell, on the left hand side. Entrance fee was 7e.
Time at Riga - highly recommend to take the walk!

“Something Different”
Reviewed March 20, 2014 via mobile

I liked this attraction. My first aviation museum. That big helicopter/plane was very cool. You can go inside and look at those old uniforms and radios. You can even sit in he cockpit. But watch your step it was sort of dark in there.

This is well worth a visit, not your usual museum, but so interesting. A really enjoyable experience.

“Great with originality and authenticity”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Riga Aviation museum is a 5min stroll from the departure hall. A the site you will experience russian airplanes that you never have been able come up to come up to before. The place is a scrapyard and the planes stand in the open. However i will give this place a 5 star rating due to its originality and authenticity. The planes are left overs from the cold war era and the very setting gives this expression and nothing else.

A place to visit if you like airplanes in anyway, unusual photo locations or just a place to hang out when you wait for a plane departure from riga airport.
