If you are looking for a nice place to stay and at the same time do not want to pay for something you don't need - DODO can be good solution. I've read many reviews about it and honestly was not sure that i've chosen proper place to stay but for some reason i went directly to this hotel.

LOCATION: Not far from the center/ 5 minutes by tram from the terminal. Bad idea to take taxi. You can buy e-ticket for tram, it's usefull and not expensive. The only thing that can bother you - people around. Most of them are friendly and speak english. But as anywhere in the world - do not talk to strangers:))) So please NOTICE: nothing to do with hotel itself, the situtaion in this country is not safe in general:)) so if you've chosen Riga - just take care.

HOTEL
Very clean, very!! Modern design, comfortable beds, WiFi, .... actually anything globe trotter needs.
Non-smocker rooms by the way. If you need a cigarette - go outside. That what i was doing:)))

Rooms may seem not that big, but cosy. There's no elevator by the way. I am travelling alone so it was enough space for me.

STUFF

Friendly, multilingual, polite.. Especially Nadia :))))))

P.S.
Some people just don't have good manners and i am sorry for them. The only negative thing - russian tourists. I am slavic myself but I'm sorry I respect other people and their privacy. It's really sad that such people think that if they've payed they can do anything they want, make terrible noice, throw garbage on every corner etc. And the worst is that they don't respect people around, especially stuff.

So once again thank you guys!

Surely I will come back!

Usually you get what you pay for, but this hotel have a better standard then I expected.
Clean, tidy and minimalistic rooms, easy to get to by taxi (fix your price before entering the car!) and tram. Also wery helpful staff!

Check out these restaurants: Bellavie (Expensive for the special occation), Province (Nice restaurant with local food and few tables, nice price).

The location of hotel is good, nearby is a lot of to shop, Lido restaurant is near and to centre/old town is not far away. Recommend to travellers with low budjet.

My stay in Dodo hotel was very nice. I lived there about 7 days in September 2010.
It`s very cozy hotel with responsive personal and rational prises.
The rooms are not big, but have convenient layout. Sound-proofing of walls and doors is satisfactory. An Electronic keys for doors sometimes is not working, but it not critically. It is just a new equipment.

The stay in this hotel was really very nice. The room had a good design, it was clean and cosy and had a free wifi. The personnel was very responsive and happy to help. We were lucky to get a special price of 24 euro per night and it was a pleasant surprise to stay in such a nice hotel for such a good price. The hotel is not in the old city, but we got to the centre by tram (around 10 min). And when we wanted to go to the airport early in the morning, the hotel helped us to order a taxi, it was very convenient.

I got lost trying to find this place since it's a surprisingly long walk from the centre, especially with luggage, and on the map it looked a lot closer (the story of my life). Nevertheless, though I was charged double as I had failed to book 3 days in advance, the hotel was still only about £45-50 for one night (I can't remember exactly, and I think I paid in Euros), and I found the room to be small but perfect for my needs, with a satellite TV, and a nice bathroom/shower. I later discovered that if you take a tram (number 7 I think, but don't quote me on that) the city centre is about 10 minutes away, and the area the hotel itself is in is apparently quite historical too, complete with preserved wooden houses from the 19th century. I was also mistaken in assuming the area is dangerous, as although there are plenty of crumbling apartment blocks and shifty looking teenagers around, I found out that it's one of the safest areas in Riga. A good choice for a short stay.
