As you might have noticed, most places in Jurmala only open late spring and operate though the summer. Tokyo City is also open in winter. That is a good thing.
However, the place being open is not enough to call it a good one.
Sure, BOGOF on all the sushi is extremely nice (it's a pity though that you can only have the same ones - if you have chosen poorly, you'll have to deal with twice as much, instead of having a chance to get it right...).
Overall, it seems like due to the lack of competition in Jurmala, the just cut the slack and don't try hard enough - service is extremely slow (off the season, shall I remind you, and given there were almost no customers except for 3 or 4 tables). In Riga, the capital city, the branches are trying so much harder, even though the customer flow is obviously bigger. Just doesn't seem fair that this little branch is spoiling the reputation of the whole chain...
The food is not bad, just be careful that some dishes have nothing to do with Japanese cuisine - bacon maki?.. Really?.. Oh well, at least everyone has to be able to find something for themselves - including vegetarian tofu maki (not that good tasting, though...).
Anyways, it's a nice place to stop and warm up in winter, but in summer - there are so many more choices around ;)
