“The main street of Jurmala town”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

The pedestrian street Jomas is the place, where all the buzz is going on in Jurmala. Restaurants, cafes, SPAs are waiting for guests in all seasons, although only in July and August it gets really crowded.

“Strangely pleasant”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

Jomas Street and many of the streets that run from it have very attractive wooden, art nouveau buildings. Many eating places to choose from, though our favourite was Gan Bei (who, among other things, do tempting sushi selections) and our least favourite was Golden Coffee with its expensive and poor quality pasta dishes. It has a bit of a Disneyland feel to it - like a film set - but we enjoyed strolling up and down. Very much for the tourists ... and that's what we were, of course.

“Russian Carnival”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

It is a pleasant pedestrian street to walk and spend an hour or so. But do not be surprised if you feel you are in Russia! Have a wonderful fruit cocktail or juice at the Cocktail Spa with very pleasant waitresses.

“The hub of Jurmala life”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

What is Jurmala and what is Jomas iela (street)? Jurmala in Latvian means "seaside", nothing else. But it is a unique tranquil and safe strip of land just in 20-minutes ride by taxi or local train from Riga downtown. Its uniqueness is explained by the fact that this strip is between the river Lielupe and The Gulf of Riga and combined with numerous pine-trees and sand dunes it makes it very attractive not only by appearance but also by its climatic value. That is why many people come there for health reasons and most of them tend to come back again and again. Why? Difficult to explain. It draws... Just come and see it with your own eyes, And if you do, you will never miss Jomas, situated between Jurmala's two train stations Dsintari and Maiori - the very centre of the town and a real hub of its llife. Filled with lots of nice cafes, small souvenir shops and children's attractions it bustles with life all the year round and especially in summer. The proximity to an open-air theater Dsintary and major hotels, and of course the fabulous beach of Jurmala, may give you a chance to meet a 'celebrity' who is making appearence in this concert hall tonight. During the "New Wave" song contest in July/August the street is loaded with Russian, Ukranian and Latvian "boheme" and the prices are exorbitant, but after and before these two festival weeks they are quite affordable. So, it is up to you when to go, but if you come to Jurmala you are very likely to fall for it and maybe you will also try something very tasty (e.g. pear cider) in Jomas cafes and buy some memorabillia in one of its shops.
